Bathroom Window Above Vanity?
Comments (1)Do you have to have a window at all? Why not just put in a skylight for natural light? If you did have to pick a place, I think I'd opt for it over the toilet instead of the vanity. Or here's another idea. What about 24" sink, 24" lowered makeup area with a window above, then 24" sink....See MoreI need help! Lights over med cabinets above vanity
Comments (0)I know; I know; "medicine cabinets" are so out-dated...(that they're sure to stylish again before long!) LOL I'm installing two recessed mirrored medicine cabinets above the bathroom vanity. I need to know what style and size of lights to use above the cabinets. The vanity will be either 48" or 42" long, 18" deep, and kitchen height. The one small, undermounted sink will be on the right side of the vanity. (Dove White cabinets from Kraftmaid. The vanity top is "Stellar Night" by SileStone.) The medicine cabinets will about 17x27" inches. (NuTone Soho or City Traditional). I'd like to put lights above them. Would this work? How big can the lights be and how high should they be above the cabinets? I have 8' ceilings. I have a Panasonic Whisper Quiet ventilation Fan/Light/Heater in the ceiling, but I nned more light over/around the vanity. It's a tiny bathroom, 7x9. I appreciate any ideas you can offer....See MoreNeed help with closed in window above porch
Comments (8)Sorry all! The window is above the entrance to the front porch (separate from the house). It is a real window; however, the problem is the back of the window (the part of the window that would usually be inside the house) has been walled in and is soon to be rocked over if I don't make a decision. The window is actually on the exterior front patio. The picture that I attached to the original post is of me standing inside the house looking out above the front door to where the window *should* be if it wasn't walled in. It should be right above where the stone guys stopped. When I stand in front of the entrance and look up at that window, if I look hard, I can see particle board behind the glass. So, my dilemma is: Should I leave it alone and let the stone guys finish the wall... And forget about being able to see particle board behind the glass and never be able to access it to clean the inside of the window? OR Should I have my framer frame out the window, leaving it open on the backside (the interior of the patio) and stone or stucco around it? I will be able to clean the interior of the glass, and the window will be easily seen as you walk out of the front door of the house. My house faces West, so the sun might blind people (shining through the window) as they walk out my front door. What to do????...See MoreAwkward Window Behind Vanity - Help! :)
Comments (28)Wow thank you Karen and Kimber, those are great suggestions. It will be difficult to move the window because it's a strata duplex and I would need permission to alter the building envelope. That being said I should cost it out , maybe it'll be less expensive than I think and something to push for. The plumbing comes from the other side of the wall. Original builders put the vanity in the laundry room - my house is weird like that, and it's very expensive to take up subfloor and move the plumbing. The waste pipe is already running horizontally from the current sink which isn't great, so I'm not sure about adding a second sink. I think I'll look into the cost of that too (moving plumbing) as this will be my bathroom for a long time and yah this dang window is messing it up haha. Thanks Karen for thr drawing I really appreciate it....See Moreaes107
