Comments (0)I couldn't understand why there weren't many recent threads on this forum. So I took the time to go back and look at previous postings, back to 08. Now I understand why. There were some good threads, great advice from herbalbetty and others, and a helpful, like-minded vibe. But there was a common theme running through them : I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. I find this to be more than just coincidence, or just the passion of two scientific, skeptical people. What I see is an attack on all things herbal. Yes, there's a place for the discussion of medicine and science in this forum, and a difference of opionions. But after reading, I find this this attack to be systematic and persistent in nature. What gives?...See MoreWOW, Where is everyone?
Comments (16)Brooke, so glad your feeling better. I know first hand about skin cancer. Two years ago, I made an appointment with the Dermatologist just to get a skin peel for some age spots on my face. My mother had several and I wasn't suprised to see that I was now getting them. The doctor wasn't interested in my face...what she saw, was what I thought were a couple of freckles on my chest. When she looked with her magnifying glass, I knew I was in trouble. She took a very large biopsy and said she would call back when the results were in. She called a couple of days later, just as I was picking my kids up from middle school. She said there was good news and bad news...the bad news was that it was a malignant melanoma...the good news was that it was, what they call in-situ (all in one place). A couple of days later, she went back in and cut everything out until she hit normal perimeters. What a scare! Now, I religiously go for Dermatology checks every six months, wear sunscreen, hats, long sleeves and long pants. It's especially hard wearing all the sungear when it's ninety degrees with one hundred percent humidity during hay season. I'm lucky to have had her catch the melanoma early. I still get butterflies when I think about it. ~Marilyn...See MoreCraft Forum
Comments (5)I have noticed at the craft shows I did this year, there are very few younger women doing crafts anymore. If a younger woman had a booth, she sold jewelry that was already made, avon, purses made by a company or hand products from some company. Thats not crafts but shows are having a hard time finding people who make handmade crafts. Our younger gals (including my 2 daughters) just aren't into crafts or don't have the time to make stuff anymore. Mariend, you are right too about everything you said. There used to be at least 4 or 5 magazines devoted to crafts and things. Now I can only find one. Not that we copied their items but at least it got your imagination going. There are a few great magazines published in Austraila that really get the imagination going, but they are $9.95 an issue and the shipping on them is almost as much as the magazine. Now, let me step back down off my soapbox and go craft. :o)...See Moredigdirt2
