Teeny Tiny Powder Room - on a teenier budget
Comments (17)This is the fan image from Lowes.com which is where I bought two of these fans. Visit the link because there are 17 reviews of this model, mostly satisfied, very few have any problem at all with it. And the sink in my bath I bought from Vintage Bath. It is a Porcher ELFE. It has good reviews too. Built in Canada. At the Vintage website, you can find specs. It measures 9.5" deep, 20" wide. I had selected another larger sink for this spot, but once the contractor took 10" off the depth of the bathroom, I had to find another option. This is the tiniest sink in the tiniest 3/4 bath in the WORLD, at least in a house not a boat! I would choose the gooseneck faucet for it though, to give better access to the small basin area. It is drilled for single hole and has no overflow, so my drain plug is the popup kind. Of course there is not a lot of room, but we have no trouble navigating the space to dry off after a shower. There is adequate room between the front of the toilet and the sink. Here is a photo of the bath with the door closed (French door panes not yet sprayed though) and the straight-on view into the space. I hesitate to call it a "room," you know. :) Showing the space between the sink and the toilet: ....the space where the sink and shower meet If the door to your powder room is not exactly in the corner, but even as little as 9 or 10 inches away from the corner, you'd have room for the ELFE sink mounted flat on the wall. The other sink I had originally purchased, also from Vintage Tub was this one, 14" deep x 24" wide. Since I had it, I decided to put it in our master bath, not completed yet. It is the Cheviot Nova wall mount win a side shelf, very convenient. I put another Price Pfister faucet on it. There are many good ratings for this sink also, so visit Vintagetub.com to read them, if you have the space for this sink. Hope I did not miss answering anything. Comments (13)We are in the middle of a bathroom + mudroom/pantry/powder room remodel. The powder room is 30" x 7.5', so we have the same narrow width but some extra length. Now that the wall is up, I see how narrow the room is! We re-did a very small (5' x 8') full bath last year, and I needed a toilet that was narrow and did not come out too far. I used the Toto Promenade, round front. The model has changed now to the Toto Eco-Promenade, so the dimensions might have changed, but the width was only 18" and the depth was reasonably short. I have another Promenade that I bought a few years ago for the (old) downstairs powder room, and I will be re-using it in the current remodel....See MoreWhat to do w/ powder room wall? gloss paint?
Comments (17)I believe that a small powder room is an opportunity to do something special, a little over the top. First off, the room has no window, right? So you always have to put the light on anyway when you go in. To me this just opens the door to dark/rich colors. Since the room is so tiny, you can also paint the ceiling the same color, maybe this would give you a feeling of endless walls. And as far as gloss goes, with a dark color--it just adds glam and makes it even more special. But, I would not go for semi-gloss, that would look like an accident to me (leftover paint, so I'll use this semi-gloss). High gloss, so the walls look wet, that is really cool. You should double check with your painter about how he will get the effect of high gloss, no roller marks. I'm currently struggling with this on my foyer ceiling. And I guess you should keep in mind that if the walls are not perfect, you will see every imperfection with the high gloss. Some people don't care, and others go crazy. Comments (8)Cute bathroom. Our powder room on the main floor is similar to it. Our basement bathroom on the otherhand is not quite turning out! My white floors are starting to take on a pink tone and I only have the trim work done. I haven't even started rolling the main part yet. My husband says it's eccentric looking. Hope not. I will have to wait and see the end result I guess. It's pinky looking but it'll deepen with time....See MoreSina Sadeddin Architectural Design
