Help me wash clothes/quilt properly in my Bosch Nexxt Premium
Comments (14)1. How to load so the clothing or sheets don't tangle so horribly? You know, my Miele does some tangling too and I think that's just the way frontloaders are? I just separate as I remove from the washer -- it has not injured my clothing. 2. When I buy dark cotton tee shirts, the shirt starts to fade around the collar and hem after just a couple of washes, and the collar seems to look ratty after around 6 months. Again, I've been using regular/cotton on warm. I had this problem when I used Tide/detergents with optical brighteners. The warm wash on your Bosch might be considerably warmer than the warm wash on your previous toploader, and although you are using the recommended amount of detergent or less, the Bosch is probably using so little water that the detergent water is really more concentrated than with a toploader. I would try cutting back on detergent as well as switching to a detergent without optical brighteners. You could also try washing on "cold" (not tap cold) to further preserve darker colors. Similarly, my husbands cotton and cotton/poly dress shirts have had excessive wear at the collar tips and darks fade quickly and some of the material pills. I have had to replace shirts at about the one year mark, whereas with my old top loader, the shirts lasted a few years. I do turn them inside out. Any suggestions on these two? I am wondering if the Permanent press cycle would be better? On dress shirts, yes I would use the permanent press or even the delicates cycle and "cold" water (which is 30C or 86F), maybe less detergent and/or a different detergent. 3. Sheets- all my sheets have had permanent creases put into them in the top hem of the sheet. I am unable to iron these out. Again, I run sheets on hot regular/cotton cycle with extra rinse. Is there a better cycle to run sheets on so they don't get creases like this, and tangled so horribly? As far as I can figure, more wrinkles are a way of life with frontloaders? That's how it seems to me. You could try a lower spin speed (the trade off is it won't be as clean of a rinse). I would also try drying on a gentler heat over a longer period of time, and removing while still slightly damp and iron it while damp. Re: dustmites -- if you can't figure out a way to wash it... you can freeze it instead. Wrap in a garbage bag and freeze for 24-48 hours....See MoreMy GE washer doesn't spin out
Comments (3)I didn't have the commercial version, just regular GE frontloader, but at some point I started having this problem too where it stops at some point in the cycle and I return to the load to find sopping wet clothes. I think for me it was something to do with the electronics. I think my husband "reset" the machine by unplugging it then plugging it back in and it worked again. It happened again several times after that, I still do not know what the source of the issue is....See Morefront load washing machine Electorlux 1.5K, speequeen $2k Miele $2.5k
Comments (11)thanks for the tips. If I am silly enough to replace the perfectly fine dryer- not entirely my call on that one- then I think I am going with Miele as it may be worth the extra money for a vastly superior product. If I do not buy a new dryer then I think I am going with Electorlux and save $1,500 at least if not $2,000 but I will need to be prepared to go down this road in 10 years again. Sears is going out of business in Canada so there may be deals to be had on Electolux. I know of a good developer friendly - warehouse looking like store just north of Toronto and I will check them out and along with Sears and see if someone gets me a very good value for money deal, sticking to the appliances listed above. (If I can get a Speed Queen for $500 more than electrolux - 50% more- then I am buying it all night and all day etc. as that would be the best value etc.)...See Morefront load washing machine Electorlux 1.5K, speequeen $2k Miele $2.5k?
Comments (27)OK! Speed Queen, delivered and installed, all taxes, "in the house sitting where is needs to be with old machine gone" price: $2,812.57 - (Canadian) this one https://ca.speedqueen.com/products/front-load-washers.aspx?mn=AFNE9BSP113CW01#build-your-own Has induction motor! Wow! That is real - deal thinking -cap on engineering- 5 year all in warranty and designed for 20 years. Not denying Miele also has some real - deal engineering and I would admit Miele probably even a better build but not a tank like Speed Queen. Miele- excellent but too small for the 120 volt one, and quite a bit of money - I noted comment about doing laundry all weekend. It was at least $500 more and it was tiny. So it was out. Electrolux - suitable machine no doubt about it- more features- very easy to use controls- unlike 'guessing at kind of' on the SQ.. And Elctrolux has alight in it -kind of neat! - and steam clean - an excellent machine. and could be installed for at or about $1,200 all in. So why not Electrolux but Speed Queen? 1, Vastly and self- evidently better build quality; 2, This! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Induction_motor...See Moreresident
