I think perhaps you didn't understand random? You will have hard time making tile really look "random" . It won't look like wood either in the end. Appears they used a mostly consistent 10 % off set . What was the mfg recommendation for your material?

A random install is not a pattern. What the OP has shown above is a pattern. Random does not repeat.

I gave them examples, I told them a 16" or so offset, I showed them pictures. With a 48" rectified porcelain tile, it is fairly flat and long enough to avoid patterns. Thanks for the input. It has not been grouted and hopefully the loss will be minimal. I was going to just hope for the best with a great grout color, but I had this tile drop shipped to me from Miami, only distributor in the country, we loaded it in a U-haul to take home and hauled it into the house. It needs to be put down the way I prefer or I will kick myself forever. Thanks again!

A 33% offset isn't "random" '. What picture did you show them? What did you show the builder or foreman? Was it written down anywhere on site? I'm surprised you don't have lippage. Fairly flat ?

The SUBS do the work. Dropping it off and hauling it in is only two thirds the hard work. Which seems like it may have been a clear communication that was missing?

This is not at all installed correctly it's not random. More importantly.... Tiles that length should have special spacers they are two part and click together and create a tight seam and make the planks flat.

Glad it worked out; but the tiles coming up without any issue is a huge red flag on the installers work.

I'm with Skippack. My first thought was it came up too easily. The fact the fact that everything came up very easily is not a good sign. Hopefully the "one guy" who was able to lay this tile nicely was also able to lay it properly (proper thinset coverage on the back of the tile = 95% coverage when pulled/checked).

Were that tile laid properly the first time, you wouldn't have pulled up any tile larger than a penny.

The tile was down for only three days, it seems tightly secured now. Fingers crossed!

I'm sorry, but I couldn't disagree with this more. These pics are of a floor we did last fall. Even standing in the room, you have to touch the floor to know it's not real wood. And although there are a couple of places in the floor where the courses of tile "step", for the most part, it's completely random. You'll also see hardwood "step" from time to time, as well.

I understand that. I'm challenging a point that was made earlier that random is almost impossible, or that you can't make it look like wood.
