Vinyl Plank vs Tile Plank vs Vinyl Tile Plank vs Laminate
Comments (11)We did our whole basement a few months back in luxury vinyl tile (that's the lvt above :) ) and just love it. I think it's a no-brainer if you have dogs that will scratch up hardwood or need waterproofing (we put it through our laundry area and mudroom). On a main floor, I'd still do hardwood, because all of the other options feel fake underfoot (barefoot). But if that's not an option, the lvt is warm, soft, and has some awesome looks these days. I really think it's going to completely replace laminate pretty quickly....See MoreBuilder mistake wrong tile bath floor - OK or Change?
Comments (21)it was an out of state build so I wasnt there very frequently - all tile work happened in the last 4 weeks of the build - so I missed that window. Decision with builder tomorrow - but they'd have to replace both bath floor and fireplace tile corrected for free. Closing is on 21st - and they seem to think they can do it if i wanted to change it. But will know tomorrow - hoprfully they arent thinking I am footing the bill for anything....See MoreTile mistake or structure?
Comments (23)I don't get how a strip of wood is an easy fix for an unlevel ceiling. Either you have to scribe the tiles to the uneven ceiling, or scribe the wood to the uneven ceiling, or put the wood it as-is and scribe the tile to the wood trim. I can't tell from the photo which they did. I would have tiled all the way to the ceiling, then caulked the tile/ceiling joint with white silicone. That said, now that I look more closely, I'm guessing that a full tile instead of the wood would have left slivers of tile against the ceiling. They didn't plan properly from bottom to top when they were figuring the layout, so when they got up high, they realized the last row would be slivers. So they put the wood in in lieu of tile slivers. That's my hypothesis....See MoreMixed Tile adhesive and spackle by mistak
