Miele ranges are coming January 2015. 30" Induction range will retail for 7K. The induction may be available in December, but full line available in january. They are beautiful ! That 48" is a dream with speed cook oven/micro/wd....wish i had the space.maybe in the next house.FYI, Miele manufacturers 95% of their pieces- no cheap parts from Thailand/Mexico. They must only outsource the boxes they ship in.

Knowing this is an old thread, here's an update on how I do the cleaning on a teppan yaki surface. I have the effort down to about a 2 to 3 minute task and have been thinking that's really efficient, The way I see it that time is significantly less time that it takes to put a comparable pan through a DW cycle. See attached picture, I use a coffee cup filled with water and a few drops of dish washing liquid, a hard spatula, and several micro fiber cloths. Wait until the surface cools down and has a little heat left in it, so yes you have to time this unlike washing a pan in a DW. Use the spatula to sprinkle some water from the cup onto the warm surface. You don't need a lot of water, a fraction of what is in the the coffee mug. If the water boils then wait a few minutes because the surface is still too hot. Use the spatula to scrape the residue. Miele's instructions are to use a hard spatula and I found that to be true. This will never give a perfect clean in my experience. If you want that result follow the instructions to use stainless steel hob cleaner, Miele's works as does Weiman brand. I don't mind some of the discoloration on the surface, it's a sign of usage or a badge of honor. And I don't see commercial grills in restaurants or delis obsess over having shiny stainless steel. Use one micro fiber cloth to wipe up the water and residue. Use a clean micro fiber cloth, wet it, and wring out some fresh water onto the surface and wipe away the water with the food residue and dish washing liquid which you do not want in your cooked food. Use a third micro fiber cloth to wipe everything dry. At the end of a week of doing this I have a pile of micro fiber cloths to put through the laundry. I picked up a few ten packs of these micro fiber cloths and now they are very handy. All of the above respects the Miele cleaning instructions here.

I believe the loose cannon there probably meant to suggest insulating tape not conductive tape. The flush tops all come with an insulating tape that the glass sits on to provide cushionning as well. The small side gap between the top and the stone is then filled with silicon which also insulates. Most installers/repairers don't like the flush installations because they don't have the expertise to deal with the silicon and it takes longer. We have a flush mount unit which looks beautiful in a minimalist kitchen. We've used oversize pots without problems because the glass beyond the pot never really heats more than being warm to the hand. Properly installed there is no danger involved.

Beverly, I had an induction range installed 3 months ago. I purchased Emeril's cookware that is made by All Clad. Hummm....don't like it. We paid $119 (huge discount for a product that was being replaced.) Cooked stuff doesn't want to get off the inside surface of the pans. So, about a month ago, I purchased a Berndes skillet from Tuesday Morning. Much higher quality. If you go to Amazon you will find that sets of Berndes for a reasonable price. We just got back from a week in St. Louis. Now I need to go to one or both of our restaurant supply stores in town to get an 8" nonstick egg skillet. This will be our only nonstick. I absolutely love our induction range (although I still my miss my extensive Cuisinart collection. I visited them in St. Louis. They looked fine.) My husband also loves that range! Induction is fast, controllable, and clean. I live on an island in Fl, and we can only have propane, not natural gas. Induction is light-years ahead of gas and I'm glad we purchased it! I'm using far fewer numbers of pans and I'm still searching for a couple. But as the number of induction ranges/cooktops grows, the availability of cookware will increase also. I hope.
