Ever color-matched BM White Dove with Sherwin Williams paint?
Comments (5)My BM Bone White color came out very well in SW Pro Classic Enamel. We used that in our kitchen (the painter's preference) and I know it is a good match because everything else in the house is the actual BM Bone White. Just about to do what you are asking about for our MB cabs--BM White Dove, but using SW. I am not worried, at all. Since White Dove is such a popular color, I'll bet SW mixes it frequently. Maybe they already have a formula in the mixing computer so they don't have to "read" it. I would make sure to have a bit more than you need mixed up, then combine cans, just to be sure.......See MoreSherwin Williams Paint Advice Needed - Paint Line and Sheen Questions
Comments (5)ProMar200 Zero is decent paint. I painted my house with the Eggshell (supposed to be Satin?) sheen over Level 5 smooth walls and love the look. This was a remodeled house with all new gypsum board. I have little kids that literally bounce off the walls and the paint is holding up well and touches up very well. The walls have seen dirty little fingers, pencil marks, a bit of blood from nosebleeds, impacts from flying toys,... you name it. It is certainly not top-of-the-line, of course. Cashmere is better quality than ProMar. I would personally do low lustre or pearl everywhere, but that's only assuming your drywaller leaves a perfect substrate. I'm not a fan of "flat" walls. Some SW products have less sheen than stated, but Cashmere is actually higher in sheen. Paint a 2'x2' sample on your wall before committing to a sheen. Good luck....See MorePaint match from Dunn Edwards Smoke & Ash to Sherwin Williams?
Comments (14)Flo Mangan, oh you're good! Thank you so much! I went to SW and sifted through so many colors. I'll have to look and see if this made my cut. You are SoooOooooo right about light. Literally just walking from the color wall over to a table the colors were shifting like a shape shifter and I'd say, "Whaaat?!" and turn right back around, ha! This is for a vanity in the mountains and there isn't tons of light in the room. Will be interesting to light-test it! ci_lantro, I know! I LOVE those mirros and I've already 'reversed engineered' them in my minds. In fact, IN FACT, I went to HD yesterday to look for metal edges and found some great choices. Had black metal soot all over my hands and face, ha, and would need to find a way to moisture proof the metal. You can buy it on many places, houzz included, but the measurements are a big for my space. Lulu bella I love your name! It DOES look gray but I'll bet in the right light or non-light, or if the moon is right, or if it's the third Thursday in a month with the letter R it would look blue...or not, LOL! Thank you all so much!...See MoreWhich Behr paint color is the best match for SherwinWilliams PureWhite
Comments (8)I am so grateful for all of the many helpful comments, thank you! Toni and Home Reborn, I agree with the suggestion to bring the paint chip to HD to match. Choe, thanks for suggesting Lori, so grateful she did chime in. @funcolors you really defined the issue for me when you stated that the base paints are different. Light bulb moment for sure! Thank you for creating that chart for me. It's really helpful. I'm going to print your chart and go to SW for a paint chip, then take it to Home Depot. At SW you can request the tint formula (particular to a certain type of base paint), the "color recipe" and they happily print it out. I've asked for this at Home Depot however, I have not been able to get it there. A different business model with less emphasis on that kind of service. However, I will add that the poorest customer service I've gotten at a paint counter is, hands down, Benjamin Moore stores. I love the BM counters tucked in neighborhood Ace Hardwares but not at the BM stores. Perhaps they are too busy... I have a lot of confidence in my contractor so I'm not worried about differences in quality. It's all about trade-offs when you renovate, or at least, when I renovate. I am prepared to be realistic and flexible in order to focus on the completion of my project. And absolutely Patricia, I'm looking for close enough and that will be good enough. Thanks again for your truly heopful insights! Lori's Amazing Website...See MoreMarilyn Scattoreggio
