Roses don't grow well indoors, as mike_rivers said. These roses are intended to be more like a cut flower--they bloom and then you throw them out. Now, that's not what we usually do with them, but that's the idea behind plants like this. They are green house grown very quckly to a small uniform size, fed heavily to make them bloom, and then sold at the supermarket or big box store as gifts. It's not that you are doing anything wrong, its that they have had absolutely perfect controlled temperature, humidity, lighting, water, fertilizer, and pesticides to make them look perfect. Now they are in the real world and they are having to deal with it for the first time in their little lives. You can plant them in a pot outdoors (there are often 4-6 individual plants in the single container) or in the ground. They won't survive indoors. They may or may not be good in the garden--some are very good, others are terrible.

Since you're really only seeing the dying leaves that are the oldest ones, and not much disease pressure on the new growth I'd opt for Beth's second suggestion and just let them be. If this is a newly planted rose, it could be the rose shedding the unnecessary leaves a little faster to recover from the transition into the soil. I've had a few newly planted roses do that this spring and it doesn't hurt them a bit as long as I keep adequate moisture for them. There is not an actual rose virus named RMV. It is a group name for rose viruses that exhibit mosaic symptoms. Which rose viruses are found in Florida? If the Florida Southern Collection results are typical for the rest of the state, your virus could be one of the following: Rose Spring Dwarf (RsDAV) was found in 21 of the 150 plants tested. Blackberry chlorotic ringspot virus (BcRV) was found in one plant, Prunus necrotic ringspot virus (PNRSV) was found in 6 plants, and Rose yellow vein virus (RYVV) was found in six plants. Four plants had mixed viruses - two had RsDAV and RYVV (Paul Neyron and Pulich Children) and two had PNRSV and RsDAV (B. rugosa ruba and Red Pinocchio). When you put plants in the ground, plant them so they are at the same level as they grew. The hole should be just big enough to fit the root ball. Looks like you added mulch, so we cannot see how deep you planted them. All annuals are planted the same way.
