Need rug advice - playroom/kid friendly area rugs
Comments (2)look at some of the Smartstrand cpts from Mohawk. They are very soft and stain resistant but come in a frieze style so they will look good. Most kid proof type carpets you will find are made from olefins which are scratchy. The softest nylon is Tactesse but its not totally stain proof. you may have to get a carpet remnant then just have it bound. I doubt any area rugs you will find are made from these fibers....See MoreWhat a Playroom!
Comments (54)Roselvr, I'm scratching my head on this one. IVF these days is quite unlikely to produce high order multiples, meaning 3 or more. Many Reproductive Endocrinologists refuse to put back more than 3, and usually only in a case where they are not of high quality. I recently visited a clinic that only puts back one, and my clinic would only do two. Your friend sounds like many people I know who have never had fertility issues. Perhaps she did IVF for her 4, but I hardly think that it's a trend sweeping the nation - it's expensive, it's invasive, and it is (or often is) highly emotionally charged, even if the outcome is successful. Sorry for the OT rant. Mary Sorry, rereading my post, I guess I got side tracked looking at house pictures and never finished my thoughts or spaced it out.. My neighbor did not do IVF.. She had one right after the other. A playroom like this would have been great for her and the little ones. I was also thinking about someone that had multiples.. I'm glad to hear that places are not putting more then a few back. I watch the shows on TLC, Jon & Kate, the one with the 4 identical 5 year old girls, the lady from PA that had the little boy Sammy then had multiples and the most recent one I saw where they had 5. I could not imagine having that many little kids running around. Anyway.. back to the topic. I love the playroom. While I was at the agents site I saw they also have a recreation room, looks like it is in a walk out basement....See MoreCarpet color for basement playroom
Comments (2)Pic above is my old basement. Yes, carpet is beige but there is a 'square' pattern with tons of colors in it including blue, red, brown, green, black...etc. This carpet shows no dirt & I think you should be thinking about that. Other rooms in this house had colored carpet. We ripped it all out to sell the house because yes, it is dated. Your idea of a neutral gray is fine. Think about where you want color - it is easy to repaint and relatively cheap. You'll only carpet once every 10 years. Put the color on your walls. Looks like the site had several patterned carpets, I think that is a good idea for a playroom and will add some pizazz....See MoreWhat to do with unfinished cedar paneling? (and playroom help!)
Comments (7)Our home has rough-sawn cedar siding. Cedar can certainly be painted, but it's a bit of work because of the texture and nature of the material. The most important step is to use a primer that will prevent the tannins in the wood from bleeding through. The best ones are oil based, but I believe there are some water based ones that will work without the odor of oil—a good paint store can guide you. After the primer is dry (you might need 2 coats) you can use any top coat you want....See Morecreatelove
