Neptune Tubs? Neptune Wind?
Comments (47)I like my deck mounted filler as it is one less thing to clean around on the floor compared to a free standing one. l notice my tub looks short in the photo. Just weird perspective and taken with a tablet. The tub is fitting in a standard 60 inch space although if you had more, the curved end could just be away from the wall. It is a tall tub as it has optional air and water jets, so I do like the ability to hang onto something. I am still pretty nimble and fit for my age, but we plan to be here for an unknown number of years. We used thin quartz as the tub surround and tiled the floor so that everything is quite waterproof and maintenance free. It doesn't show real well in the photos as the colors are a bit off. Would love to see a photo when yours is finished. You can also get a heated back on this tub and I do like it....See Moremongo or bill, tub surround tile question...
Comments (30)Thanks, pepperidge farm :) Sounds like you have the response I always used to have when I saw mosaics before I started doing them...if you get started you won't stop, I'll warn you :) In this case, I got the tiles as seconds at Pratt & Larson (see above post), and then have just been playing 'organize-the-dishwasher' (as my family likes to call it--I'm a bit obsessive about that too :)) until I like what I see. Most of them have some degree of sparkle to them, opalescence, and I didn't use any crackle. I have three long pencil tiles going through each 25" span to keep some sense of direction--now that I see it I'm wondering if I should have put in more...not too late, actually, and I have some more...hmmm, it's not finished until they take it away from you, right? :) So mongo, I am waiting to order until I hear what your thoughts are--would you share? Or were you just curious whether I'd bought one yet? You know I will wait for your thoughts on any issue, so TIA as always :)...See MoreGreenboard or Cement Backer for Tub/Shower?
Comments (36)Just a comment on this 10 year old post, but about 10 years ago, I had the same problem that the OP had - failed drywall causing tiles to fall in. I used cement board around the tub and shower and green board everywhere else. I didn't find the cement board much more difficult to use than the green board (or any other drywall) so I don't see what the OP's objections to it are. An interesting aside, this bathroom was not original to the house. The non-shower side of the room had been a closet wall (not a bathroom wall). I removed the "drywall" which turned out to be a gypsum board based lath 3/4" thick with plaster over it. On the back of the gypsum board was printed "patented 1885". The house was built in 1890. A cross section showed three layers of plaster between thin sheets of paper....See MoreDottie's 'Stuck in the Tub' story
