Natives or Weeds? Plant IDs please
Comments (4)The first one is Ground Ivy, also known by several other names including Creeping Charlie. A non-native weed that is probably all through your lawn, too. The next one appears to be a cherry, perhaps Black Cherry Prunus serotina. The throny shrub is a rose, and probably multiflora rose, which is very common, non-native, and something you should be pulling or else it will quickly become out of control. I think the last picture might be Common Fleabane, or perhaps Daisy Fleabane. Both are quite common here, and I think it is the Common Fleabane that pops up all over the place every spring....See MorePiece above 2 story foyer

Comments (3)In my view (preference) the lights should be in the ceiling where they can illuminate the counter tops and be outside the user's direct field of view unless he looks up. Shadows from objects and users should be kept in mind. However, this seems to best apply to more conventional 8 - 10 foot ceilings. I suppose pointable light housings mounted to exposed beams might work in a cathedral configuration. In addition, small lights under cabinets will help. I'm surprised that your electricians would bid on a job without an electrical plan....See MoreTiny powder room - make into mudroom?
Comments (14)Here are some pictures of combo powder room and mud room. Not meaning that you'd separate the the toilet, just wanted to show you these bc the wall organization looks good. Was thinking something like this: And I found some pictures of attractive looking peg board types of systems. Maybe something like this will work. You could hang a folding stool and other things on the wall and/or have a shelf with baskets placed high up. The hanging system wouldn't encroach on the toilet clearance or crowd you when you're at the sink. Or if you want more of a shelf type of unit on that wall, maybe something like this placed high up on the wall: If you don't want open storage like that, I think Ikea has some very shallow closed cabinets that you can hang on the wall, maybe putting 2 of them so you utilize most of the wall, but I haven't been to Ikea lately to see what they are offering....See MoreGrand Finale Design
