Just got back from looking at the one Home Depot has on sale. I couldn't find a link to the one we looked at, but it has similar proportions to this one, only it had 3 functioning drawers, and I believe it may have had a molded sink into the top. It was on sale for $399, which included sink, top, cabinet and mirror. I thought it was very good value for someone. But this gives you a look at how the sink will look off-centered. Recessed lighting over bathroom lavs don't really need to be centered and they can be the adjustible type if necessary but they usually create such heavy shadows that often some kind of fill light is needded and that usually needs to be equal on both sides of your face.

We have asymmetery in our dining room bc our fireplace is not centered. We had the choice of centering the chandelier in the room or putting it directly in front of the fireplace, making the chandelier not centered in the room. We ended up placing the chandelier in front of the fireplace, but the table is centered in the room. Nobody notices, and I don't either unless I happen to be working on a project in the room. ;) In your case, I'd center the chandelier and medallion in the ceiling relative to the fixed elements in the room. It will be much more noticeable to not have the chandelier centered in your ceiling that your table not centered under the chandelier since there is a separation of visual space between the chandelier and your table. IMHO. Good luck!

Thank you all for your replies! I don’t have my heart set on that light or even Edison bulbs necessarily - it was purely an example of a light that I “thought” might work since it was wide enough to cover that spot on the wall. Honestly right now with other projects that we have going on, I really don’t know if want to go down the road of cutting drywall, moving the box, patching, etc. especially considering that we plan on replacing our cabinets in the near future. But I’ll show your comments to my husband and see what he thinks since he’d be doing the work! I do have a window pane mirror that I will try but I still kind of think I’d like a light of some sort. The space between the cabinets is about 42”. There was also a straight wooden valance between the cabinets that we just removed as well. I figured that was a dated look and needed to go too. I like the idea of the larger feature asymmetrical style fixture a lot. The 2nd one - Charleen - is pretty cool! I’ll definitely look into that. And that wooden shelf will go too (forgot to mention that initially) although I am open to using more stylish shelves if I needed to fill the space. I even mulled over the idea of putting a single light where the box is (off-center) and then decorating around it with maybe floating shelves or something to fill the space. I know, I know - probably a bad idea but it was a passing thought. At this point just about anything would be better than the Hollywood lights! Hers another pic of the over sink area if it helps.
