Anyone from the Cincinnati area?
Comments (21)This is the first time I believe I have posted. I am presently in Virginia, 10 minutes north of Richmond. I am seriously bummed over the possibility of moving away for several reasons. One, I have family here and two, I have spent so much time and money in my gardens. If we must move then we must. My youngest will be graduating in a year and going on to college that following fall. We will probably move as soon as school is out. I know she can stay with my older daughter and I can come down to visit...still a hard thing. Next dilemma: what to do about my many plants here, especially the irises and daylilies and other sentimental (heck, they are all sentimental)? I went throught the Master Gardener program here in 1997 and have accumulated so many wonderful plants. I am a member of the Central Virginia Iris Society and have at least 250-300 different varieties of Iris. I know Cincinnati is zoned 5B-6B and that will also depend on where we end up moving. My husband's business will in Blue Ash, Ohio. What to do about all these irises! I saw my Master Gardener neighbor move from her home a year ago and discovered the people that moved in (with three small children) dug most of her plants up and brought them to the dump. I could not believe that. I don't want that done to mine. I would love to bring one or two rhizomes of each and every one of them, along with the 30 or so daylilies, some unusual hostas, and then some. I thought about digging them all up and having a huge plant sale but that's a lot of work and I don't know what kind of yard or possibilities exist on our future home. I don't even know which zone most irises can handle. There may be different ones for different irises. I have 10 months before we must move to Cincinnati. Any ideas out there? Comments (7)heck yeah ask! lol check out the below requirements before you do anything else, I even had to redo my existing wooden shadow box fence to meet the code...below is an excerpt from the code "If distance between horizontal rails is less than 45": Spacing of pool fence vertical rails should not exceed 1 3/4", to prevent a child's foot from passing between rails and using horizontal rails as stepping ladder. If distance between horizontal rails is greater than 45": Spacing of pool fence vertical rails should not exceed 4", to prevent a small child from passing between rails. When swimming pool fence is installed the distance between ground and bottom of fence must not exceed 4". Pool Gates should open out from the pool and be self-closing, with a latch which is self-latching. Pool Gate Latches should be at least 54" up gate http://www.fencecity.com/help/poolfacts.html...See MoreNeed Custom Cabinet Recommendations- PA/NY/NJ
Comments (43)Thanks munkel. I will add them too. My builder has some people he'd like me to talk to as well. He is great, he was fine when I told him we wouldn't use the person he had originally sent us to and is willing to either work w/ whomever we find our help us to find someone he has worked w/ before. We also got another quote back, from paradise custom kitchens. they came in a little higher than wellsford- $38,000 + $4000-$5000 installation + tax, but that wasn't too bad either. So, we are meeting w/ wellsford on tuesday and going to oxford cabinets on tuesday, and we're also waiting for quotes back from a few other people that I sent pictures to via email....See MoreInfo needed on Old hotel in Dayton Oh area.
Comments (10)Not sure about the OP but I do genealogy and thoroughly enjoy tracing the roots of all my family dealings. We don't know much, but what we know is precious. OP, hotels change names frequently of course but the library or historical society (as brushworks stated) in the local area will certainly help. So would ads in old local papers if you can find them archived....See More- 7 years ago
