Turning the corner on the Lily Leaf Beetle

Last year I posted a question about my perception that damage from the red lily leaf beetle was way down. I was heartened to see that many people were having the same experience. My hope was that the parasitic wasps released a few years ago at Elm Bank/ Mass. Hort. Society in Wellesley/Dover Mass. were reaching us. On the strength of the improved outlook, I purchased an inexpensive Asiatic lily this year and it is now in bloom. However, the big news is that today, I am looking at a lily that has been in my yard for years, but which I have never seen bloom. I am not sure why I didn’t dig it out years ago because it has always been a pathetic nub of a plant eaten up at a certain point in the season by the lily leaf beetle. Now it looks lovely.

I am pretty sure that in Weymouth, Mass. we have turned the corner on control of this pest!!!!!!
