Help Needed!! Exterior Stucco Paint

Hi All,

I am currently getting the exterior of my house painted. The end result looks very streaky and mottled, almost dirty. The painter is telling me it is because of the texture of the stucco. My feeling is that the stains from the old stucco are showing through.

He says he sprayed 2 coats and bankrolled.

Attached is a picture of our old stucco so you can see the stains (peachy tan color). Also attached is the new paint after sprayed twice and back rolled (cream paint). Should it look like this??

You are showing us two different areas that were painted. How about the same area? I really do not see "stains" telegraphing thru on the second photo and without know what that wall looked like prior it is impossible to be sure if there are stains showing thru.

Thank you for the reply! I didn't take a picture of the areas before they painted because I didn't know it was going to be an issue. I posted the first picture to give an idea of what shape the stucco was in with the weathering. My concern with the new paint is that it looks swirly and uneven.

A few things to note, referencing the developer’s model that you just posted. The trim around windows and garage is NOT lighter than the house body color. Keep them the same color. Also....a wooden garage door that matches your front door would make your home stand out from your neighbors....in a wonderful way! Suggestions about bringing color to the facade using your landscape are spot on. And consider a beautiful urn in a bright green or orange, for example, with plants beside your front door to bring attention to its beauty. Good luck! Your house is charming.

Help picking white/off white paint for exterior stucco

I ended up choosing SW Pearly White. it is a creamy white in the sun and a very light greige on cloudy winter days. I am looking for photos (it is our summer house) I will post as soon as I find a photo from last summer. Seapearl was recommanded to me by 2 paint store when I was looking. Our entire interior was painted BM Swiss Coffee at 50% (making it a bit lighter). It is a really nice creamy white without too much yellow due to only 50% tinted.

How did the paint project wind up? I am undergoing the same consideration and wonder what your thoughts are on if it was worth it to paint your stucco.
