Help Me pick a backsplash
Comments (1)Try posting this on the Discussions side--that's where this type of topic is discussed. I also suggest you post several pictures of your kitchen as one picture doesn't give the "feel" or style of the kitchen. Good luck!...See MoreHelp me pick my backsplash, please! - pic heavy
Comments (27)I like the one on the right. but I sort of like the one on the left too. sorry. It's just 2 different looks. That being said, you need to do the "squint" test. I think the lighter tile on the left will appear to give you a white-ish color--so stand back, squint your eyes at the painted backsplash area now--do you like what you see or would you want it darker? Maybe do the test again with the tile on the counter--where you have counters so as to get the full effect. If you want it to look really rich, then darker. If you want to keep it light, then the lighter one. I think both will look nice, seriously. I say pour yourself a cup of tea, and sit down and just stare at it. It will come to you. It is sort of like a meditation type of thing. If anybody is home, they will wonder if you are "ok"....See MorePlease help me pick a backsplash! (pics)
Comments (12)Herb ~ I thought about using an accent behind the cooktop but I'm not sure I like them! I really like the diamond too. Philo ~ I'll look at the waterjet tile tonight, thanks for the link! The cabinets were custom made by a local shop. I went with a 3" stile and rail and absolutely love the look. The leathered steel grey is even better in person ;) Barncatz ~ The first thing I learned on Houzz... everything looks better with your pet in the pic! Great idea about grouting the sheets... I wonder if they sell small samples? The convex tile was purchased at Arizona Tile and it's priced really well so using that would save me a ton! We put it up horizontally and vertically, I like it horizontal. H202 ~ Do you like the marble subway or the plain tile? Nosoccer ~ I love the look of that light grey grout. Mayflowers ~ Would the white diamond be too much pattern or should I be looking at texture vs color?...See MoreHelp me pick a backsplash!
Comments (11)@Jack L I found a slab door similar to what you have posted and took the counter-top image from your post above and paired it with some possible tiles. I strongly recommend matching the grout to the tile because both the door and the counter have prominent patterns. you seem to want an interesting backsplash but this can go wrong, so easily by becoming too busy. You really do need white on white. I think a diagonal line would really look too busy. My favorite look by far with this would be to continue the slab, but if that is not an option, subway tile in a straight line pattern is better than diagonal (there is stacked, running bond, etc). I do find that the white on white dimensional tile might be a great option for you, with white grout. I googled white dimensional tile and found the 2 below. The one on the bottom left can be laid with a flat tile in between the dimentional for a different pattern. One thing that you need to watch for is the overall base white color match to the counter-top. White is not white and if that match is not good, it will forever bother you and you may not realize why, it will just look wrong....See Morenatesg
