Any Feel Good Recipes Out There?
Comments (19)This one's right down my alley! I'm happiest when I'm in my kitchen cooking and/or baking! TRI-TIP ROAST 2 lb. Tri-tip sirloin ⅓ cup white wine (I used Pinot Grigio) 1 jar sundried tomatoes, oil drained 8.5 oz. package feta cheese Place roast in crockpot. Place drained tomatoes over top of roast. Sprinkle with crumbled feta cheese. Pour wine over all and cook on low for 6-10 hours. Note: We all really like this! Its different and has a good flavor. Leftovers are very good on buns! Here's one for game. SLOW COOKER VENISON ROAST Very good! 3 lbs. boneless venison roast 1 large onion, sliced 1 tbsp. soy sauce 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp. garlic salt ¼ tsp. ground black pepper 1 (1 oz.) package dry onion soup mix 1 (10.75 oz.) can condensed cream of mushroom soup Put cleaned meat in slow cooker and cover with onion. Sprinkle with soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and pepper. In a small bowl, combine the soup mix and the soup and pour mixture over the venison. Cook on low setting for 6 hours. And who doesn't like Cheese Danish?! CHEESE DANISH 2 pkgs. Crescent rolls 2 (8 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese 1 cup sugar 1 egg yolk, reserve the white 1 tsp. vanilla ½ cup sugar ¼ cup chopped walnuts 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 egg white, lightly beaten Preheat oven to 350˚. In a medium sized bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla together. Set aside. Unroll 1 package of the crescent rolls on the bottom of a 9x13 in. baking pan. Pinch seams together. Bake for 5 minutes at 350˚. Spread the cream cheese filling on top of the baked crescent roll. Top with remaining crescent roll. Brush the top with egg white and sprinkle with walnuts and cinnamon. Bake at 350˚ for 30 minutes. ~Sandy~...See MoreAny Good 'Pro' Vermicomposting/Vermiculture Forums Out There?
Comments (10)The downside to worms and related areas is that it's not like math . Reason I say that is that if a person in Maine gives me (in Arizona) the a couple of the dimensions of a triangle I can give them all the info they will need to find the rest . Not so with worms . There seem to be no gurus . There are no places to find rock solid bet your boots on this sources of info . There's a lot "well , for me here in XXX we can do this or that" and so on . I have searched and am down to just a few "almost" sure fire methods to use worms . I am now getting ready to use euros to live in the soil in which I garden so their poop will help the soil and as they produce more than I need then I will sell them as bait . The produce will benefit me as well as a few bucks from anglers . It seems that raising worms will work but like the word says "it's WORK" . Start small and learn from your mistakes . A friend of mine had to get out of the biz because shipping costs ate him up . He was selling on E-bay and they demand overnight shipping on worms . I'm sure that if you ask enough people questions you will hear some stuff over and over . You can start with those answers and answer many of the others through trial and error . Keep your worms separate so one mistake does not kill them all . Experiment with small groups . This stifles growth at one end but in case of a catastrophy you are not starting over . It's a slow process but at the rate that worms reproduce you will eventually benefit from their sheer tanacity . I would think that 5 years is a reasonable time to give for this type of project . It's a long time , granted BUT I'm reminded of a girl I knew back east . I advised Nursing School . She said (and I paraphrase) "My God , I'm 40 years old . It will take 6 years since I work . I'll be 46 when I graduate."I replied "How old will you be in 6 years IF you don't do it ?" She is a retired RN and enjoying a GOOD retirement . Work it like a school project . Ask every question of every person . When I was younger I was a pilot . We had a little saying . "When I had 10 hours I didn't listen to anyone . When I had 100 hours I listened to SOME people . When I had 1000 hours I listened to EVERYONE." This is something that "might" support but will at least supplement you . The business will be YOU . It will succeed if you make it succeed and fail if you make it fail ....See MoreAny Good Microwave Cookware Out There
Comments (12)I have a complete set of the Micro-Mac cookware. I use the bacon cooker and the two simmer pots more than anything else, although I do use everything I have. The bacon cooker is absolutely the BEST ! No splattering and all the grease drips into the bottom drip pan and you just pour it into an old coffee can or trash. It's true that the cookware does not get hot, it's the food that gets hot, and the stuff cleans up to look brand new. I have had mine for a good 12 years, and the things I use most are just now starting to look a little beat up, but I tell you, the stuff is just great. I know I sound like a salesman for them, but I'm not, just buy it and try it. I know you'll love it. I'd buy it directly from Micro-Mac and not Target because I think the price will be better. I don't think their web site or catalog shows a "complete set", so call them and tell them you want a comlete set that has everything they sell and they will put togeather a good price for you. That's how I ordered it. I actually spoke to Lois MacIntosh, the owner, who helped me. If you buy it, post back and let us know what you think. Thanks, Tim....See MoreAny great 'breakfast sausage' recipes?
Comments (10)I used to really like Jimmy Dean sausage and would often mix a regular with a hot version but the last few times I've had it there was a LOT more fat in it than it used to have. Not necessarily bad, but it's a filler. Another hidden price increase. So I was searching for sausage seasonings to try. Found a lot of interesting recipes but most are basically very similar. Much depends on what you like. Recipes are guidelines, not hard and fast rules. Here's some of the ones I noted to look at and perhaps try soon: TheMrsVolfie's Sausage Seasoning: 4T Kosher Salt, 2T Onion Powder, 2T Garlic Powder, 1T Ground Sage, 1/4C Parsley, 1T Ground Cayenne and Chilis, 1/2T Ground Fennel, 1/2T Ground Black Pepper. This mix will do 35 pounds of sausage http://www.food.com/recipe/homemade-sausage-seasoning-blend-102718 Sausage Seasoning: 2 t Sage, 2 t Salt, 1 t Pepper, 1/4 t Marjoram, 1T Brown Sugar, 1/8 t Crushed Red Pepper Flakes, Pinch Ground Cloves, 2# Ground Pork. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/16359/breakfast-sausage/ http://queenofthereddoublewide.com/homemade-seasoning-for-breakfast-sausage/ http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/breakfast-sausage-recipe.html http://www.kitchenstewardship.com/2012/10/03/how-to-make-homemade-sausage-seasoning/ http://allrecipes.com/recipe/breakfast-sausage/ http://cradlerockingmama.com/homemade-breakfast-sausage/ http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/how_to_make_homemade_sausage/ http://balancedbites.com/2012/08/easy-recipe-italian-sausage-spice-blend-from-practical-paleo.html http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Breakfast-Sausage-with-Spices http://thepauperedchef.com/2009/06/homemade-wisconsin-style-bratwurst.html This site has a BUNCH of recipes: http://thespicysausage.com/recipes/...See More- 8 years ago
