Greetings ! some photos from my yard
Comments (13)What a wonderful garden. I had a birds nest in one of my Geranium plants this spring. I try to discourage them from doing that but once they are there and have eggs then I just water very carefully and try not to disturb them. I have to say that I do enjoy watching them so it's not too bad of a deal. LOL I tossed some Nasturum seeds in a new bed in the front yard this spring and they have come up like gangbusters. I did notice that the weeds and grass do not seem to come up wherever they are. I hadn't consciously considered using it in more places for that reason but now that you mention it I will now. I love their leaf shape and the colors of the flowers. You have done a great job and it sure looks better than a first year garden. And BTW, I have bought a lot of the Asiatic lilies from Walmarts and they have come back nicely for the last two years. I planted more of them this year too. Comments (19)Hey Annie, Thank you for the compliments, just got done looking are your roses and I would have to say the same! I got the carnations at Lowes I think a few years ago. I love them! They are my birthday flower and I was so excited to find them as I didn't think they would do well down here but then again those places tend to buy things that don't do well for the area. Turns out they have done wonderfully. I do remember you telling me about your daughter living in Columbia and your someday visit down here which I am still looking forward to! :O) Yes, it is too bad she doesn't live closer as I would love to help her out. Mabe when you do end up coming to visit her we can all meet up at the zoo. Then you could come down to visit Charleston. I have a membership to Magnolia Garden and Plantation and I could show you around there and have a picnic there perhaps, I love it there. Maybe you could bring your daughter too and we could have a nice time. July and August are hot and humid though so be prepared. So far it really hasn't been too bad heat wise. We have actually had a nice long cool spring with a few hot days lately but not too bad. Looking forward to your visit! Congratulations grandma! ~Meghan...See MoreSome rose blooms from my mom's garden
Comments (4)The top rose looks like Spectra. I grow it in a well protected area. Tried to grow it in the open and I could not overwinter it here in Iowa in a regular rose bed. I love Spectra, which it blooms in so many different colors, is scented, and has excellent form....See MoreSome of my 2018 roses and some of my other flowers...and some dogs
Comments (16)I'm out early to knock the Japanese beetles into a Mason jar filled with soapy water. I repeat the hunt in late afternoon but at that time of day they seem to have faster reflexes and many escape.. Nothing but the best for my JB's; they get Ivory Liquid. Seems to work best if I just squirt enough to create a good layer on the surface of the water. I don't mix the soap in. Brittanys are SUCH cool dogs. Loved seeing the photos of yours. And you are off to a spectacular start with your roses. Your husband should be very impressed!...See MoreUser
