Completed dining room built in cabinets! Suggestions for wall art?
Thank you to everyone who helped me when I was researching ideas for my dining room cabinets.

They are hudson cherry woodgrain, with vinyl slab doors and hardware from CB2. The wallpaper is faux grasscloth removable from spoonflower.

My next question is suggestions for wall art between the two cabinets. Should I stick with the original green/teal painting? or will that blend in too much with the wallpaper? Or should I go with more darker contrast colors from the mosaic mirror (maroon, peach, pink, dark brown). I am a little confused as to what colors to choose for the painting.
I am planning to put a larger painting (48"x72") then the original one (48x30")

Comments (60)I agree with your husband: trust your instincts. Sure, you'll have a couple of missteps, but that's to be expected as none of us are static and many of us upgrade as budget permits -- just part of the process of learning about yourself. Fill your home with what you love, however slowly as you need to create your haven, not ours. That being said, your perfect daylight greige is likely affected by the lightbulbs. Try Reveal and add a dimmer if you don't already have one. Lots of candles as everyone looks fab by candlelight and your DR will be wonderful. Next paint job on your agenda in another room, if you want to save a bit of money, try Pittsburgh Paint Manor Hall. Nearly half the price of Aura, and I like the hand ever so much better. I've used Aura for years since it first came out, but I really like Manor Hall better. As far as your chandie/mirror dilemma, I'd opt for round on one and rectangular on the other. Since you already have the mirror and are open to leafing or painting it, then an easy out is a round chandie. Have you looked at any of the antique crystal chandies on Ebay and considered adding a drum shade? But if you truly think you'll love the rectangular chandelier, I've seen some nice ones of Ebay as well as the selection on Overstock. Finally, rather than wed yourself to a color concept for the back of the cabinets, would you consider paper, fabric or even painted panels that you can change when you want? You can easily find just the right striking print or color rather than struggle with paint. Many of us have bought enough samples to paint a house so that's not a route I'd advise. I'm a fan of practical displays until you have the budget to devote to passion collections so add whatever sparkly crystal stemware and candlesticks and any silver pieces you have to the cabinets for the interim. Comments (13)I agree that the rug is much too small as well as dark. The tones are taking away from the distinct table base and the coordinating chair legs. As an admitted minimalist, I'd have no rug there or one that's the same color as the floor but textural. The floors are beautiful. Given the many hard reflective surfaces, I think a mirror would be too much and would prefer a textural art piece. The height can't be greater than what's there now due to the vent. Although I really like the candlestick lamps below, it may look cluttered due to the glass cabinet close to the sideboard....See More

5 years ago@Olychick...I was going to do a sideboard, but theres not that much space width wise, it would have to be a narrow one about 12" depth and with sliding doors, no space to open doors. Thats why the cabinets are also small and only 12" in depth shelves too. I can think of putting bookshelves or open shelving in between the two, as they would be narrower.
I dont think the doors should be a problem, I can get them switched so they are mirror images.
The mirror was there, on that other wall, but it was seemed too small for the space.
@athomeeileen...I actually liked the unusual half wood/half glass :)
@leelee...yes they are attached to the wall, so not freestanding cabinets.
