Are you quilting this weekend? June 22-24

Hello Quilters! Have you started or finished any projects this week? I quilted my "On Ringo Lake" and hand stitched the binding. I also worked on my chicken blocks for the guild swap. I need to do the buttonhole stitch on eight more blocks.

The next quilt for the frame will be another Bonnie Hunter quilt that I started in a class with her last summer. I need to press the backing fabric before I load it. (Not fun!) lol

Hello! I'm not as ambitious as you, Linda, though I did begin and finish a June lotto block today. Yay! I hope to work on a Baby James quilt later this weekend, too. Happy Quilting, y'all!

We should (FINALLY!) finish the floor project tomorrow, so I may actually get some sewing time on Sunday! Woohoo! I have been working on my crochet projects in the evenings.

Thanks Calliope. Today I finished hand-sewing Card Tricks blocks #90 and #91 - just 9 blocks left to make! I am so excited to be this close to finishing this project. Once I get the blocks made, will set them aside and make a baby quilt for a friend, and then after that is done will later in the year hand-sew all 100 blocks together - the points are so thick where the triangles meet up that I am afraid it would break needs if I sew it on the machine and by doing it by hand I can make sure all the points turn out pretty. Calliope what does GFG stand for? I am still trying to learn all the abbreviations on the Quilting Forum. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Best to you, Sandra

Hope the girls get through this well, Sharon. I have finished up a couple of small applique wallhangings I invented to take on a recent cruise. I can't sit long without stitching on something. They are ready to quilt now. They will be house warming gifts. Then I looked in the sewing room and decided that lots of things I've been unable to find are probably under my quilting frame so I decided to tackle the large quilt I put on the frame a year ago. It's taken me this long - plus getting over the shoulder surgery - to decide what to do with it. I have gotten a long way by doing a couple of passes every time I am in there but hope to have the thing off the frame and the great reveal of what's under it soon. It's like finding buried treasure. Finished up a baby quilt last week and if I can find my camera I'll post that soon. Just got home from two back-to-back trips and still getting my head together.

Valerie, I've gotten myself a few times with the rotary cutter too, so I know how you feel (though the ruler usually gets the brunt of my clumsiness!) Hope it heals soon! This quilting thing is dangerous... I burned myself with the vintage travel iron yesterday! Glad everyone is staying busy... I've been piecing like a mad man until the wee hours of the morning. I'm still working on the puff quilt... I'm watching Law and Order SVU while I cut and pin and that helps the time go faster. It's really quite pleasant and makes the fun part (sewing) seem to come more quickly. Tonight, for the first time, I decided to listen to music while sewing... I sewed about 20 squares with no bobbin thread! When I don't have headphones in, I can hear when the bobbin runs out because the machine sounds different, but when I've got music going I'm stitching in ignorant bliss. I've noticed that the faster the song is that comes on, the faster I sew! I caught myself flooring the pedal without even realizing it! I also accidentally left the vintage travel iron plugged in all day and went merrily off to work... I could have burned down an entire apartment complex because the vintage travel iron doesn't have auto off... and it's vintage! But, I did turn it off, so all is well for now. I need to stop using it! Of course we all know the fastest way to call a cat is to lay out unsewn quilt squares... it works better than a can of tuna!

I've got all 85 blocks for my antique star quilt laid out on the living room floor. I have started piecing them together with the sashing diagonally from one corner. I have a quilting friend coming over for dinner tomorrow, and I wanted her to see them. Then I will pick them up by row and keep assembling. I just have to figure out what to do, if anything, with the scraps left from fussy cutting the sashing. Any ideas? They're just under an inch wide. What a waste of beautiful fabric. I guess I could always use them in a strip block.

I was invited to a shower on July 12, so I'm working on a baby quilt. I saw a photo of a quilt on-line that I loved, so I'm making it in a baby-sized version. I ordered some fun Shannon Cuddle for the backing, because nothing about the front says "baby." Once again, I was able to use scraps and my stash for the quilt top. Yay!!

I am hoping to get the binding on the first quilt for Jackie's Baby James project. I found a cute pattern I would like to make for the second one - if I get time to start on it! I am painting our front door and got it sanded and primed today. Tomorrow I need to sand again, then the first coat of paint. Sunday evening we are going to a concert, so that will be fun - although I would probably rather sew!

I have started piecing two quilts for the Baby James project. I hope to finish the tops at least in a couple of days. I also want to load a quilt on the frame to snatch a few minutes everyday during the week to quilt. That’s the only way I get to work on my UFO pile.

Now that the construction work on the basement is finished, it is time to arrange and put things in order. The furniture is placed but not 'nailed down', subject to change as I work down there. Today I placed bins on shelves, again subject to change, and mainly to get the bins off the floor.

I have way too much fabric!!!
