We have SW moderate white trim with whole wheat. I love it. Really gives a warm feel. Our windows are white and I put up white wood blinds. Next to ceiling our crown blends in. If you stare at it you will see the difference but not noticeable. I can send you some pictures against my white windows and ceiling.

If you are selling in six years your appliances will be considered older then anyway, so get what you like and what works best for you now. The other thing about white is that they sometimes do not work well with some white cabinets so be sure to bring a sample door with you when you go shopping. In six years what sells kitchens may be very different than what sells kitchens today so if you are hoping to do a redo for future revenue you should rethink it for you will not make a profit on this project so really take resale out of your design equation and do what works for your style home and in finishes you like. contrary to what hgtv tries to convince us of, not every home buyer is generic. For every buyer who likes white kitchens there is at least another one who will not buy a house because of a white kitchen so you will never be able to please more than 50% of buyers no matter what choices you make so try to please yourself only.

Hi Lukkiirish. Painting the doors the same color as the rest of the trim has always been the way they do things in Europe. France has never seen a painted door it didn't like. On the other hand, doors stained--generally mahogany, since that was the fashionable wood at the time--to contrast with white trim became the standard in important houses in 18th Century England. And since what we call 'Colonial' is merely a simplified version of what's considered Georgian style decor in England, places like the White House have combined stained doors with painted trim for more than 200 years now. It's all good. Baseboards often match the rest of the trim, but not always. In grand houses they were often colored marble, and in less important houses, they were often finished in faux marble rather than pale paint, the better to hide the soil line from dirty mops, which is why they're still called 'mop boards' in England. The last time I was at The White House, the baseboards in the Blue Room were painted in imitation of yellow Sienna marble. In other words, when it comes to painting doors, whatever you decide do to, you'll have plenty of historic precedent behind you. Situations where it's literally impossible to make a wrong choice don't come along very often in decorating, so when it does happens, you ought to take advantage of it. Regards, Magnaverde.

In YELLOW I think these are what your painter is calling "popouts:" They each have their specific name depending on where they are, and it's the same term regardless if they are wood, stucco, or brick (e.g. window sill, etc), so in general they can be called "trim or moldings." IMO it would be a very strange look to use a different color, and realize (scribbled in ORANGE) that some of those opening cornices would need to be the same color turned horizontal inside above the windows and entry portico.
