Daughters' Bedroom Needs Your Help
Comments (4)I vote for Aqua blue for the walls. The room has a lot of potential. Consider trying a new furniture arrangement. Right now the dresser is blocking the door preventing full use of the closet. The dresser is also blocking the lovely new curtains so that they don't add as much impact to the room as they could. While you have the paint brushes out maybe paint the dresser either white like in your inspiration photo or maybe another bright color taken from the curtains. The finish on the dresser has some damage to it so by painting it, you won't be "ruining" it. I hope we can see the finished 'tada' photos....See MoreNeed Help Please...color for daughters north facing bedroom
Comments (7)I think you're on the right track with a pale yellow, but I have a feeling that the bright accent colors will look better with a cleaner wall color, like maybe Jersey Cream or Full Moon. Ivoire is toned/grayed down and it may look muddy with lime, turquoise, etc. I also worry about potentially muddy colors looking even more so in north facing rooms. I like to keep colors clear and clean in north light. My DD wanted a deep blue room and we went with a BM Historic color, also somewhat toned down, not a clear blue. Instead of the off white and toned down gold I thought we'd be using, she opted for lime green. I think a cleaner blue would have been better for that accent. Luckily, she doesn't give a hoot about those kinds of subtleties and I only go into her room under duress. :-) If you have a Ben Moore dealer near you, take a look at Ambiance. It is a pale yellow with just a touch of pink in it. I used it in my north-facing laundry room and it is very subtle and pleasant. I think it would work well as a backdrop for your daughter's brights...will let them take the stage....See MoreMy daughters' bedroom needs help
Comments (23)Wow, you know I'm not so sure about your question regarding the chair rail. Of course typical height from what I understand is 32-36 inches depending on chair height and such, but for this situation, that's a good question. The concern I would have about putting it too much higher would be a matter of proportion and how pleasing to the eye that would be. If 36 inches is still too low, you may want to consider doing a separate thread and asking what heights other people ended up with when doing something similar. In regards to color for the rail, that is totally up to you, but I wouldn't worry about matching it to the furniture. I would want to match the rail with the trim and doors because it looks more cohesive. Glad you like the polk-a-dot idea, just keep them sparce, it won't take a lot to give it that fun look....See MoreNeed help decorating my bedroom!
Comments (27)Bed is arriving today and all I have are sheets :( So many decisions. I think I will go with the charcoal gray square headboard, even thought it is pretty expensive. I am drawn to the tufting so I'd like to keep that. I will go with a lighter shade of gray for the bedding and add different shades of blush and gray pillows. I still am unsure of drapes. I am meeting with painter about the dresser colors. Clair Pope - I'm embarrassed to admit but I actually got the canvas painting at Hobby Lobby :) I love reading everyone's comments. This is just what I needed. Keep them coming if anyone has ideas on bedspread and drapes. Thank you everyone!!...See MoreKarin K
