Comments (18)"a whatever vine on a whatever trellis" means it's only a scheme (as are all the sketch suggestions I've posted.) It's not a finished, detailed plan & specs. It's just the offer of an idea that a homeowner might not have thought. If it interests them at all, they can look into possible vines and figure out the exact size and kind of trellis they might like. Maybe they want to make it out of 3 bamboo poles, twine and a package of morning glory seeds for $10. Maybe they would want Doric stone columns imported from Italy for a couple thousand dollars. I don't know, but I'm sure they can figure it out. Even though I'm showing it at a backdrop to their already existing streetside bed, I'm sure they can figure out where exactly they want it. Based on the picture, it looks like they know something about plants. An advantage to using a vine on a trellis is that with a little cleverness on their part (put some kind of temporary panel on the back of it) they could have it installed and the light blocked this Saturday....See MoreShould I convert a 4th bedroom into loft area?
Comments (11)If we do this, we are going to stay there for at least 5 yrs or more, who knows... But since we are going to remodel kitchen/bathroom at the same time, so we of course will stay there for long. In order to make it a loft, I will have to break down one wall only (w/ the door and the electrical outlet/switch). So it will cost money to move the electrical outlet to the other wall. And since it is one wall, I don't think it is that hard to put it up again if the future owner doesn't like a loft, but again, I don't know how much it cost to build a wall, you know... I just don't want to create a mess and regret later... So I would like you opinion. And anyone who has a loft upstair, do you think it is useful? I am afraid that we make a loft, and still go downstair for activities :-(...See MoreLoft Style Master Bedroom in an Apartment
Comments (11)Thank you everyone for the suggestions!!! I am going to go take a look at the place next week. The furnishings pictured are not ours but are the apartment model's. My main concern is the bedroom not being a cozy comfortable space. I'm a fan of open concept as much as the next, but I like my bedrooms to feel enclosed and safe. I know there is at least a bathroom and two walk in closets in the bedroom. What I am thinking now is of draping some nice curtain panels to give it the semblance of being an enclosed space. Might be cheaper than the panels previously suggested, but give the same effect. I also love the idea of moving a chair to be near the rail, as well as having the dresser next to the rail. I will post more pictures of the actual space as soon as I have them. Thank you everyone for your time in commenting!!! PS: Just to clear my fiancé's good name, he was trying to surprise me by taking care of this task and was able to get a fantastic deal on it. He fell in love with the floor plan, and thought I would too. Poor guy.......See More25 Sq.m 2nd floor loft or 12 Sq.m 1st floor bedroom
Comments (7)Kids sleeping on a different floor than parents is a deal breaker for me, *especially* kids downstairs and parents upstairs. My kids have special needs, though, so I perhaps feel more passionate about this than most people. :-) I do, however, remember disliking being separated from my own parents when I was growing up. It didn't matter how old I was (first at 6-9 years old, then as an older teen), I hated sleeping on the opposite side of the house. (This may be hard to believe, lol, but I never once snuck out as a teenager, and no, I wasn't homeschooled.) That tells me that even if my kids weren't disabled, I'd very likely still want them close at night. :-) I like everyone to eat in the same place, play in the same place, and sleep in the same place....See Morepartalius
