Doors Solid core Vs Hallow core and what company
Comments (29)A solid core flush door is solid all the way through but it might have a MDF or lumber core with a veneer. It's difficult to know how to respond to questions about doors without a description of what they are. They could be solid or veneer wood for a natural finish or MDF. They could be flush or paneled. They could be 1 3/8" or 1 3/4" or thicker. The best value IMO is TruStile made in Colorado. Very nice doors and the web site is full of information and easy to use unlike JeldWen, Masonite or Simpson. The Door Design Tool is fantastic. Comments (3)thanks - i looked around and you are right, they do have the safe n sound doors which are somewhat like solid core. the thing i am confused about is, the masonite solid core costs exactly as much as the safe n sound, so which one is better? if the safe n sound is in between solid and hollow, why should i spend just as much on a safe n sound vs a solid core? their website and pamplets aren't very informative......See MoreMasonite Textured 6-Panel Hollow Core Interior Door
Comments (8)Masonite/Supadoor would be fine in my opinion. You may look at a Trustile MDF door as well as a real stile and rail door will be more stable than a drop routed door (one piece of MDF that is carved). And please do your self the favor of upgrading the butt hinges. The standard off the shelf prehung door hinges are a cheap pot metal type hinge with a crappy brass plated finish. Also and this is my opinion but find a lumberyard or real building material supply house and not a box store for any millwork. Comments (3)Solid core doors would be my choice. I currently have hollow core masonite doors and slowly replacing them with solid core MDF doors. I did not get wood doors because I would be painting my doors. I would get a paintable wood over a hollow core masonite door. Good luck!...See Moreworthy
