18' Deep Bathroom Vanity - Does a Sink & Faucet Even Fit?
Comments (12)You can also consider a semi-recessed sink that protrudes a bit from the counter. Mine is made to be accessed by a wheelchair, so comes out further than a lot of them do. You can find lots of semi-recessed sinks from European manufacturers like Duravit and Nameeks. Mine is from Sbordoni and my counter is 16” deep. But you don’t even need to do that. There are hundreds of 18” deep vanities out there these days. Many are “console“ style like this one: But there are plenty of floating vanities and regular vanities available that are only 18” deep. SignatureHardware.com has a bunch. Or go to the for sale part of Houzz, or to QualityBath.com, Build.com, or any bathroom site and adjust the search parameters to 18” deep and the width you want to see what is available. You absolutely do not need a wall-mounted faucet. As for how much space you need for clearance around the sink and faucet, it all depends on who is doing the countertop. If you are having a local stone company do the top, ask their rules. I tried to work with a couple of the companies near me befor buying my sink and just gave up. Sales people often have set numbers for where it “should“ go and cannot answer questions for non-standard sizes. I tried writing very specific questions to the actual stone cutters to help me figure out which sink to buy and got nowhere. No one would answer at the place that had my quartz. That is how I ended up with a walnut counter. My carpenter is a genius and I knew he could cut those angles for me. You may find it easiest to buy a vanity with the top included. I did not have that option because I needed to wheel a chair underneath my vanity....See MoreIs 36 inches an okay height for bathroom beadboard?
Comments (27)Laurie, I think that looks great! I can't wait to see the room as you progress. I love looking at the pictures of everyone's pretties. Oh I'm so happy that you enjoyed my pictures! I just googled "black toile bath" and "black toile bathroom" and then snooped the Images. So if you want to find any of that stuff that's how you can do it. Not sure about a shower curtain matching your wallpaper, but if you find a paper with matching fabric you can sew one. Another idea is to find the fabric you like, make a shower curtain from it, then use more of that fabric as wallpaper putting it up with wallpaper paste (but your walls won't be so scrubbable that way). Other options would be to shop for a different b&w shower cutrain. This one is a nice classic that will never go out of style -- White with Black Trim Or here is a Solid Black Curtain. Or, I really like this one. I have a weakness for pintuck satin. It's so classy. Black Pintuck Curtain. Here it is in a White Pintuck Curtain. I'd be very tempted to pick that one, but I'd put the bath together before I decided which....See MoreHow does this picture look in my guest bathroom?
Comments (13)Absolutely love the art, but not in that bathroom. Does not go with the mirror. Does not go with the floor. Is a bit too large for that space between shower and vanity. Does not go with the quiet calm aesthetic of the bathroom which I like a great deal. Sometimes in my house, the bathroom is the only place to get some peace! That art is wonderful; place it somewhere else in your home that will highlight it, and that will fit better with its dynamic explosion-of-color aesthetic. I actually do not think you need any art at all in that space between shower and mirror. In my house, that china jar on the left side of the sink would be smashed on the floor in no time with that precarious placement. Belongs on a shelf somewhere out of harm's way....See MoreWhat does your bathroom look like?
Comments (7)When DH gutted our avocado tub/shower enclosure and all the other avocado fixtures we went with white subway. No walk in shower in the main bathroom. I still think one needs a tub in a home and as you pointed out most bathrooms are not luxury spas so the combo was necessary. I wanted all white because then I am free to change colors with shower curtain/towels w/o having to coordinate. If the black nobs intrigue you go for it--they can usually be swapped w/o issues years later if you tire of them. Here's the basement bathroom he did a few years later. We went with matte finish due to hard water and spotting....See MoreEmilie W
