Can someone help me find another one of these, please?

We're babysitting the neighbor's cats and one of them had a major #2 blow out on a rug. As a good friend, I hosed it off and then took it home, tossed it in the washer and, well, it disintegrated; the backing came off leaving fringes and some of the loops are undone. The picture doesn't show the damage well. I really want to replace it ASAP and after combing the Internet for 90 minutes, I can't find it. I know I've seen these types of rugs in quaint stores, but the tag became a gluey powder, so I have no idea what brand or material it is. And it measures, 30" x 42", so not sure if that's what it was or it shrank. Does anyone have a clue? THANK YOU!!

My best advice is to be an adult, admit what happened, and offer to replace it with a rug of their choice. Who knows, maybe they hated it and were just too lazy to do anything about it.

Hi Jodi, Did you get the miniture type of amaryllis? I ended up getting a miniture that was supposed to be apple blossom but wasn't. The other thing that comes to mind is did the flower stem quit growing....kind of like resting ........I have one that the top of the stem has been showing for about 6 weeks but seems to be resting.......I don't know why...it was treated the same as all the others. My guess it will continue on when its ready. And yes cooler conditions will make them grow slower. Have you read the thread here on red blotch.....have you checked the condition of the bulb? Amaryllis can also get rust, which will also distort the flower stem and flowers. Good luck...I hope they just start growing well for you. Sierra

Hi Mike, Dont buy the oxypetalum. I am sending you a few pieces of this one. It is true that they grow like crazy. I left this one at my parents house when I moved out because it does take a tremendous amount of space. I got a call from my mom and she told me that she was waiting for the day that that was going to strangle her..LOL. Once you have an established cutting, you can expect some new growths to be a couple feet long. No joke, mine had some growths that were 4 ft long in one summer!! The blooms are great! Just make sure your going to be home to enjoy them! Mine only lasted one night and that was it. As soon as the sun went down, the bud would begin to open. By the time the sun came up, it was closing. Logees describes it as having flowers the size of dinner plates. I had some that were even larger than that!!! Mine is pitifull now compared to when it was in its glory. I wished I would have found a way to care for it here. At one point, that plant was around 10ft long but I have had it for over 10 years. You can control the growth with pruning. Just make sure you do it at the right time or you will end up with no blooms. I will have to read up on my notes on this before I can tell you when to prune it. I can send you 3-4 nice cuttings next week with the others if you want okay? I also have a nice big pink epi. I don't know the name of the variety but it is really pretty. Trust me, neither of them will take a lifetime to get blooms from. My oxy bloomed in 1.5-2 years after I got it. I started a couple for friends and the one I gave to my landlords mom bloomed the same year I rooted it! The pink variety I bought locally and they had rooted cuttings with buds on them. I will say that it may take a couple years for those blooms to reach there potential. Andrew

Why not ask for the moon. I say that because you are asking for alot. There is no such vacuum with your criteria. Even when you take away the last two that you permitted. You are going to have to re-examine your criteria. I am confused about what you want. Your first paragraph states that "All I want is a stick vac..." and your criteria states "Upright". These are two different types of vacuum cleaners. You can find a stick vac that has onboard tools, cord rewind, and uses paper bags. What it will not have is a long cord or attachments stored inside the body. Simplicity is a vac shop only brand that has a stick vac called the Quicksilver. Riccar, Simplicity's sister brand, also has the Omniclean. These stick vacs are going to weigh less than 10lbs. Emer also makes some larger stickvacs that use bags and have attachments, but the attachments are not onboard. This brand is going to be expensive. It would not be my first choice. There are a few upright vacuum cleaners that use an automatic cord rewind, but they are going to be about 15lbs. Panasonic makes few models under their brand like the MC-V7314. They also make Kenmore models. Some have automatic cord rewind. My suggestion to you is that if you do not like winding the cord on the hooks, why not loop the cord like a lasso. Then you could just hang it on the upper hook. Another bagged upright, that might work is a SEBO Felix. It uses bags, but weighs more than 10lbs. and no auto cord rewind. My suggestion would be to do a search and see what is out there, then decide what is more important in features.

I tried about fifty links using "Steuart elephants" (thank you, justgotabme!!) and they all linked back to allposters.com, which is out of stock. :( Thank you, also, for the "back up" suggestions; they are very pretty! A little more muted than the others (the ones we're searching for are the colors I use almost all through my home), but definitely a good alternative, and very attractive! Olychick, thank you for your link, too. I was having trouble finding a price quote, too....is that site just to-the-trade? It wanted a company name, etc, in order to register. I'm going to keep searching...GrandmaOf3, I hope that we find them!! :) Thanks again, everyone, for such great help!!

No, OP washed the rug and ruined it. That is OP's fault.

If you're my friend, my answer when you offer to replace is "don't be silly, of course we won't let you do that. We appreciate that you tried to help."

But not everyone is like that. Regardless, honesty is the best policy.

Also, my dad has a favourite saying: "no good deed goes unpunished." He's not actually that cynical, just really funny.

Accidents are part of pet ownership. The alternative I guess would be to just leave it there but who would do that?

Well just saying, not criticizing OP at all, hosing it down is one step farther than I would go. Washing it in a washing machine, never. Pet messes can be cleaned fairly effectively without going that far and a person with experience with rugs knows you don't stick one in a washing machine unless you know for a fact it's ok or you don't care if it gets accidentally ruined. Now OP knows that too.

But that's not the point. The point is, if you destroy something that belongs to someone else at the very least you apologize. If you want to be extra nice you offer to replace. Trying to replace it without them knowing is juvenile and silly. Have you never watched Full House lol?? Or any romantic comedy? Or any other sitcom for the 8-12 year old set?

LOL just 'fess up, it is so not a big deal.

Not sure where I wrote I wasn't going to "fess up". I'm not trying to hide anything; I just wanted to make a concerted effort to make things right after ruining something. I call it self-effacement and owning the mistake. But thanks for all the advice.

This made it sound like you were going to try to replace it surreptitiously. I apologize for jumping to conclusions about your intentions.

I would still strongly recommend letting them choose their own new rug, whoever pays for it :)
