Asparagus crowns arrived earlier than expected...too late to plant?

I ordered asparagus crowns online. The shipping notes started that it would be 11 weeks before I would receive them, which would have been fine for a fall planting. Unfortunately, they arrived this yesterday and I'm worried that it is way too hot to plant them. I know it's going to be tough to grow then in my zone (9a) anyway, so I want to give them the best chance possible. Any advice on what to do? Do I plant them now and hope for the best or do I store them in the fridge (or some other way) until fall? if I store them how and how long can I do it?
