We have a raised ranch with brick veneer on the bottom and vinyl siding above. Our roofline is different, so it doesn't look quite so raised-ranch-ish. Our siding is a yellowish cream color with brick red shutters that complement the brick. But with your gray roof, I don't know if that combination would work for your house (our roof is brown). Definitely think about removing that archway and widening the front entry. A portico would be a good addition as well.

In the sample book they gave us.... none seem to be what I’m looking for I guess. I could stick with white but this post’s replies have me nervous that’s the wrong choice. I do agree a door that blends with the house looks nice/bigger (per the taupe imagine above). Our garage doors are quite old and the right one has a dent in 2 places where it has been hit before. I did ask the installer if we could just change out the bottom dented one & top rows as we would like windows along the top. He said we couldn’t. Also, not important in this post but we need new openers...I swear these ones are from 1973!!! Haha.

Some suggestions... 1. The biggest change to push it into a more Mid-Century Modern space would be to change the front left bump out to more of a front-facing gable instead of a hip roof. Adding in bigger windows and transoms that reach all the way to the eaves would beautify this house inside and out. 2. The front entry is hidden. It needs to be defined and made special/more inviting. First of all, I'd change the door too a more MCM-style door, and paint it a bright aqua/teal. From the left side of your new gabled front, add a covered entryway. On the left side of the covered entryway, add in a wall made of wooden vertical slats or louvers to define the area. Run the sidewalk up to the door. 3. Add aluminum windows with black trim to give the windows some punch. New windows would give you the opportunity to change the window style to a more MCM-friendly, updated modern look. 4. Replace the driveway with pavers and move it away from the house a few feet in the process. Moving it away will help the house breath a little bit with more green space snuggled up to the house. 5. Landscape! Frame the window areas with taller plants, like grasses, small ornamental trees or larger bushes. All of this softens the brick and adds color to your cool-looking house! It could look like this...

The additional pictures help a lot, thanks! That is a lovely setting, and I think you have a lot of potential with this house. I do want to say that I like the style of the siding. It will need a good cleaning (not power washing, though) and scraping prior to painting. My first thought was a gray matching the gray bricks, with the shutters & window frames (if paintable) in charcoal gray or bronze In my neighborhood there are a few homes with yellowish stone facing: one painted the siding in something close to Sherwin Wiliams Urbane Bronze, with a creamy white trim, the other used a grayish blue on doors, the small amount of siding, and window frames. Both of these seemed to play up the gray and downplay the yellow in the stone. Another has a red metal roof and brownish red trim - and looks unexpectedly charming! 2) I would take the closer up pictures and upload them to the visualizer tool on the Sherwin Williams paint website - there you can try out different colors to see what works. Most siding and roofing manufacturers have similar tools that let you try out their particular colors - more limited but still can give you some ideas. This would be a good time and way to choose a new roof color in advance, assuming that you might need to replace it during your tenure. 3) If you can't find a color solution that appeals to you, and depending on your budget, you might then consider painting the brick with a paint specifically made for brick and stone - I think Romabio is one brand. 4) That porch slab looks like it is new? I wonder if it is too late to add a tint to it - a darker gray, again pulling the gray brick color. 5) Wait to buy a door until you've settled on colors, but it should be a contemporary slab style with rectangular glass. But, if you came across a door that echoed the look of the siding, that would be great! 6) I expect that someone will come along to say the shutters don't belong on this style house, but I think that they work. The other option would be to remove them but add more trim around the windows and door to give them more presence. I believe that there is trim made to work with brick surrounding windows.
