Where to put our window air conditioner
Comments (4)From my experience, a 5000 btu window unit will only cool a 12 x 12 room at best. Not sure how hot or humid it gets where you are, Have you thought about a big exhaust fan in the attic? I had one in an old house. It was a 32" +/- belt drive one, and blew a lot of air. We would turn it on, with windows closed, except for 1 or 2 down stairs, and it would pull the air thru the whole house. Open window on a shady side of house, to pull in cooler air....See Morewindow air conditioner/heater: where to find?
Comments (1)Usually they just stick the ones away that didn't sell till next year, did you ask? How about Home Depot or Lowes, they had them out earlier too as I was looking at them for a room I'm building in my garage. I know HD can order it in from anouther location....See MoreWindow air conditioner acting weird
Comments (6)What you are asking is what hvac techs do. If knowledge, tools and opertunity to inspect were not necessary, homeowners would do it them selves. My wag is defective blower motor. 79 to 109 watts is not enough to drive a blower. Compressor will not function unless blower functions at 100%....See Moreokay so i want to power my window air conditioner
Comments (13)Volts * Amps = Watts 6,000 watts / 120 volts = 50 amps @ 120 volts A small residential electrical panel is 100 amps. Each appliance has a name plate with the amperage and voltage - you need to add them all together. It should be less than 50. IMO - it's not practical - you will have to store 5? 10? gallons of gasoline, it will run constantly and be very noisy - you will need some long extension cords rated at 15 amps. Save the money and go to a motel for a day....See More
