Do you have a keychain with your car keys?
Comments (30)Total hijack here, but I lost my electronic car key with house key on it before Christmas. I knew it had fallen out of my pocket at work somewhere between the parking lot and the main doors. We had sooooo much snow this winter, I didn't have a hope of finding it. The school where I teach is in a very bad area of town and I've been worrying all this time that someone would find it and steal the car (and then find our address in the glove box and let themselves in our house). Not to mention the $350 replacement cost of the key. Well, it has finally started to melt here and as we were walking to the car yesterday, my daughter gave a yell, leaned down and picked the keys out of a half melted snow bank - and they still work!!!...See MoreWhat kind of microfibre mop do you have? How do I use it???
Comments (4)I use the Mr. Mister mop with BONA and microfiber cloths from Solutions. I have wood floors in every room except the bath and laundry. The mop is handy because I can put the BONA inside, but the head tends to flop around and you have to refold/change the cloth every so often. I find it easier to just get on my hands and knees unless I'm doing more than a couple of rooms at a time. I have never used it dry. I don't baby my floors, but those Solutions cloths are very *grabby*. I'd be afraid little rocks would get caught in the cloth and add more scratches to the floor. Before mopping, I use a regular old-fashioned dust mop to push everything out the front or back door. No kiddies here so I don't have to mop very often. I sweep or vacuum every few days and spot clean as necessary. I believe BONA is short for BONAKEMI. I purchase the big jug of floor cleaner from the Bona website. I also use it to clean wood furniture and cabinets - I haven't bought Pledge or Murphy or Endust or anything like that in ages. I could be paying way too much for the BONA. I've never comparison shopped it....See MoreWhat kind of under-counter lights do you have?
Comments (4)I installed LED lighting in my current house and in my last house. I put LED tape in aluminum channel to make custom-sized fixtures. The aluminum channel helps diffuse the little bit of heat that the tape gives off, and gives a bit of space between the tape and the translucent plastic cover. It sounds like you've got a plastic cover directly on the LED tape, which, as you've found, dramatically shortens the life of both your LEDs and the plastic cover. Below are the parts I used to make my lights. The aluminum channel comes with mounting clips, and plastic ends for a nice finished appearance. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PJSUZSK https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WQFP1LU https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018NNORKY https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017QDHHA4...See MoreWhat kind of caterpillars do you have in your garden?
Comments (16)I have a lot of seeds in the fridge, and a big list of seeds I want to order, in a couple months, when fresh ones are available. There are a few very rare milkweeds I want to grow, that I can't get seeds for right now. I'm going to winter sow for the first time this year. I have a powerful lighting system, so I'm going to start all the tropical milkweeds and other tropicals like porterweed and frogfruit under those. If I do succeed in growing the tropical giant milkweed, Calotropis gigantea, I'll be able to put all the Monarch cats on one giant plant, and not have to worry about them having something to eat. Of course things don't always go according to plan. I was hoping my swan milkweed would grow nice, and bloom. It still might, but right now it's still a chewed up stick. Things like Zinnias,Tithonias,Petunia exserta,Salvias, and Gomphrenas I'm starting in gallon jugs, but I won't put those outside until Feb. or March. I want to try winter sowing the Monarda punctata and citriodora. I need to go check out the one lemony Monarda at the old place. It was growing near some Monarda fistulosa volunteers, so I need to see what's really what. I've managed to keep a Monarda didyma alive for 3 years. I like those deep red flowers a lot. I want a lot more of it....See Morerob333 (zone 7b)
