Nice house! I think that golden oak and brass fixtures will soon make a comeback, because dark wood and silver/stainless have been popular for so long. I don't think the peachy wall color in your house looks good with the oak, though, because it makes the oak look so yellow. Before you paint the trim and window blinds, try painting the walls. Our walls are a pale khaki/green, so light it reads as a neutral, and it looks great with warm wood tones. I've also seen nice warm grays look good with golden wood. On the other hand, as much as I love wood, I think the bookshelves look odd in that spot, mostly because they appear to be floating above the baseboard heater. I think that would be the best wall for the TV, so you may have to change the shelves to make that work, or move/remove some of them. Can the dining room be closed off completely, with a big arched doorway? With such open space in the other rooms, it might be nice to have a more intimate space for contrast, and to have less sound bouncing around when you talk and laugh at the dinner table. Can the ceiling in that room be lowered? If not, I do like the grill idea suggested above for the openings to the DR. Lastly, before you shop for furniture I would make many copies of a to-scale floor plan and try moving little paper pieces of furniture around to make sure you can make it work before you buy it.

Lovely home. Please don't paint the brick. The brick is attractive and goes well with the roof color. I would begin with painting the garage door the color of the siding and trim. If you are planning to repaint the siding, consider a shade a bit darker, and paint the shutters the color of the roof. I would remove the semicircular trim on the porch posts, replace the turned posts with 6-inch (or larger) square posts, and either remove the porch railing and spindles or replace them with square rails and spindles. Then I would add landscaping.

Just my preference - I typically like divided light windows on more traditional homes. I prefer windows that aren't divided on very modern homes. Looking at the picture you posted, it's just something that I noticed - the bottom windows look more off to me because they're larger than the upstairs windows. They seemvery large and could be more decorative I think. The only places I would possibly add shutters are the two windows on the left - those are the only two with room for shutters - and I think that it isn't needed because the rest of your windows won't have shutters. If you add some landscaping and possibly redo the windows so they're a little more decorative, I don't think you'll feel like they need shutters anymore. Possibly adding some thicker trim around the windows might help too? I notice that difference in photos of other brick homes that are similar, but I don't know if that's something that can be done at this point. Here are some examples of homes that look similar in style to yours. They all seem to have transom windows on the first floor, that might be something to consider for your first floor windows too, especially the biggest ones on either side of the front door. Landscaping and a new front door color (or front door) will help a lot and would start there! I think some landscaping will help with feeling like you need shutters.

IMO remove the shutters and paint the siding a color from the stone or brick that is on the front Ideally new garage doors with some glass and maybe one shade darker than the new paint for the siding.Get rid of the plant in front of the garage pillar so that you can actully see the entry
