Good morning quilters! I hope you had a wonderful week. I didn't get as much accomplished as I would have liked, but my sewing room is getting organized slowly. To make the new quilting frame fit, I had to move and reorganize everything except my sewing tables. My DD helped tear it apart but I have had to put everything back myself.

DD is coming over today to sew again. I have several projects to work on too. Besides actually quilting, I am making dog beds with my scraps. I had several yards of twill fabric that I planned to use for cushions but changed my mind. I am using that for the dog beds and filling them with scraps. I am amazed at how fast the strings and scraps accumulate. The scraps are just the tiny throw away pieces and thread.

Just had a picture sent of DGGD1 sleeping under her " buggy" quilt. Mother says Charlotte "is in love with it". Worth the time and ' money". Charlotte is on the left. LOL.

Working like crazy to finish the 5 quilts for cousins today. Need to wash & dry them before party - tomorrow. (taking break now)

I hope so. I am still carting things downstairs from wherever it was stored during the Reno. But I did find some blues that should work for the June lotto.

The weekends surely do roll around quickly and I can't believe July is close upon us. Seeing how the temperatures are supposed to hit near ninety today, and the humidity is way up there, I cried uncle and made the air conditioning on and came inside for a mid-day break. After lunch, I FINALLY got to the sewing room and actually felt motivated to tackle the WIP, my puff quilt. Today saw the two knotted halves be joined successfully and the seam down the backing pinned to hand sew. I brought it downstairs where it's cool, and plopped that baby on the dining room table, and might just get that seam run today. When it's done there are just two more sides to bind and it's a wrap. Man...........it's HEAVY. Just edited my post to add the picture. The backing fabric is a border print, so that when you turn the quilt down, the design shows and it's repeated at the bottom as well, so either side of the quilt is 'up'. One more foot of hand stitching and it's done, other than to bind off the last two edges. This post was edited by calliope on Sun, Jun 29, 14 at 10:42

I finished the string quilt yesterday, binding and all. I'm now putting together some log cabin blocks with some leftover flannels from that and from my stash. I've been a very good girl with using up a lot of my stash on the last two projects. I still have lots left, though, thank heavens with the cotton going so high. Got the air conditioner replaced last Wednesday so no excuse that it's too hot to sew. Now I have to stay home all day Tuesday for County inspection because they refuse to say when they will be here. This is how the government treats it's employers, us, the tax payers.

I'm packing for retreat also. I'm off to the copy store because a friend suggested zeroxing a pattern instead of taking the whole magazine to retreat to cut down on the weight. Well, duh! Should have thought of that. So, today I'm cutting down on weight in suitcase, thinking through process so I don't forget something and finding clothes that won't take up lots of space but still keep my body clothed. And, I'll be doing a bit of applique as I watch my ball game.

I've been working on my Crossroads quilt. I have all 18 blocks finished, and I'm sewing the sashing, cornerstones and blocks together. I'm really pleased with how it's coming along. I'm not looking forward to cutting the border fabric. It's a stripe, so there's lots of room for error. I've been trying to get enough gumption to quilt the baby quilt I have sandwiched, but I haven't been able to get it together yet. However, our air conditioner went out yesterday, and the coolest place is in the lower level where my Tiara is, so maybe I'll get down there yet. DH is having back surgery tomorrow. i hope that it's successful; he's been in a lot of pain lately. I had two spinal injections for sciatic nerve pain last Wednesday. The doc said it would take 3-10 days to feel the effect of the steroids. It sure was nice the first day or two until the anesthetic wore off though. Sounds like quite a few of us are in the "golden years" where something is always acting up. You're right though, Linda, it's definitely better than the alternative.

Not me. Had a tooth pulled and an implant put in. My jaw is very sore today so hubby went in to work for me. I'm just gonna chill in my recliner with my ice pack.

My latest quilt is in the dryer, and I finally got my printer to accept the label fabric, so I'll be able to add the label. My SIL is coming over this evening and I'll give her the quilt then. It's a rainy cool day here, so I hope to get some more string blocks finished - 41 down, 7 to go. I hope to get another quilt top glue basted to batting and backing tomorrow, so I can have something to work on in that department too.

Carolnv, I used Printed Treasures Inkjet Sew-on fabric sheets. It was really humid yesterday, and I think that was part of the problem. The sheets were curling at the edge. It was drier today, and I ironed the sheets to press them flat. Then I took all the other copy paper out and put only the fabric sheet in the paper tray. Success at last, but I wasted two whole sheets, and they're pricey.

Good job, Glass! Glad you got done in time.

We spent the weekend working on the baseboards. We also pulled up a large section of the flooring in the master bedroom to fix a gap issue. The master bedroom is DONE! The guest room is done except for the little bracket that holds the bifold doors closed. The sewing room bifold doors are painted and ready to install.

We still have two more bifold doors to paint and baseboard to install in the living room, dining room and kitchen, and some trim to install along doorways. Our goal is to be done by the end of June. Then maybe I can get back to sewing!
