Plant ID: Help Me Identify This Volunteer Plant
Comments (5)I've mentioned this before, but my method to handle seedling trees that are too well rooted to pull up is the use the little spray bottle (that fake butter comes in) and spray (more like drip) the cut end with undiluted broad leaf weed killer. Saves having to get in there and dig it out. The seedling can be cut at any length, just getting the stuff on the open cut kills it. I carry the bottle in my garden holster to have it handy as we have a lot of little hackberry, oak and pecan seedlings coming up all the time....See MoreHelp ID These Succulents My Husband Picked Out!
Comments (4)Palmbob - I think you are right that #2 is Aloe Striata. I looked at Echeverias and Cotyledons types for #5 and came across quite a few possibilities in both species! I just can't pin down one that I can say it is for certain. Roger - Could you post a picture of what you? I looked at photos of Sedum Acre 'Aureum' and although similar looking, I am just not sure. I should mention that plant #1 has a distinct smell to it. My husband says it smells like a cross between marijuana and herbs. Hopefully that helps narrow it down. I've been looking for succulents that smell and so far I've been unable to come up with an ID....See MoreSucculent newbie - please help ID my plants; how to water
Comments (4)Water thoroughly when dry. Let water run out the bottom holes. Never by tablespoons. You can tell when they need water by inserting a wooden skewer for a few minutes. When you remove it, if it’s damp, don’t water. As for the third pic, I suspect the pot is too big for them, and they should be potted a little higher if you are able to repot in a smaller container. The recommended soil mix here is commercial cactus and succulent potting mix combined 50-50 with perlite available from your nursery. You are on a good start with your succulents. I suggest you take time to read many other threads here, and you will learn a lot. Also there are some good YouTube videos. I like Debra Baldwin, another is Sunshine and Succulents....See MoreHelp me design our neutral living room with my husband’s AUDIOPHILES
Comments (46)Since the TV is 100% staying in this room above the fireplace, the room will be visually lopsided even if all the stereo stuff is moved out. It will look better with some other dark colours in the room. Doesn't need to be a new sofa, just some darker decor items. I'd start with that to begin with. Maybe pick up some of the blues from your art work. Then move the stereo rack to where you have the table and decor items. Eventually you could replace it with one in a wood tone that either goes with your dining room table or the aquarium stand. Maybe with doors, maybe lower and wider so components can go side by side. Add art work above it, to give the eye an attractive place to go, because the mirror in that spot is too bland. Cord covers can go along the baseboard or around doors. Paint them to match the walls or the baseboard. Amazon or hardware stores have all different kinds, very easy to use. It seems unlikely that any of us will be able to produce a photoshopped room that will inspire him with your vision. I think you need to take the first steps to make the room more attractive, move out the table and decor items, and ask him to just move the stereo stuff either to the other room or to the right of the fireplace....See MoreEmbothrium
