Please help us pull together the decor of our master bedroom
Comments (36)Ontario mom, I am posting pictures of our "blue room" that isn't actually painted blue. I think that the blue of Scandinavian Christmas plates looks best on a color other than blue. The white Holly Kay linked to, or something similar, would be beautiful for pine furniture and floors. This is a sort of montage of photos of the room. I have about 100 plates and cannot display them all, but they were the starting point for the room. It was already painted this gold color. I used other blue and white pieces i already owned (urns, vases, Foo dogs, etc) in this room as well. We purchase the oil of children on the beach and I framed it myself in the plein air style. Sorry for the horrible iPhone photos....this shows the plates above the headboard. We used DS2's childhood furniture (armoire and dark pine single size sleigh bed ). We recently put rustic white oak floors in the room and I added this blue and taupe-y gray rug: Closer of plates above headboard (these are Norwegian) and other blue and white stuff on shelf in bed alcove: In the corner is a display thing bought at Ballard Back Room in Atlanta (their discount place). They called it a bookcase but it is perfect for displaying plates in a corner! This is an interesting side table my mother gave me for my birthday about seven years ago. It is a mosaic top made up of broken pieces of blue and white china. On it is a lamp that was in my childhood room...a little too "good" for the rest of the room, but I wanted to use what I had. The bedding is a discontinued Ralph Lauren pattern I found on ebay. They incorporate shades of navy, royal and light blue, which is a perfect foil for the plates. I use the white matellasse cover on the bed with the comforter folded up at the foot. Hope these photos help you envision a blue and white room :-)...See MoreMaster bedroom input wanted.
Comments (13)We have looked at over 75 houses and lots. We have $150000.00 to make changes. The house being on a lot with one of the most popular fly fishing spots around make it worth the headache of a remodel. A builder has looked at the house and says the bump outs aren't really structural as long as they stay under 4 feet extended out. Basically like adding a box bay window. Not to go into overkill regarding our needs, but we have 10 dogs, we will still have 6-7 by the time we move. Finding an area that allows for us to build a kennel severely limits where we can live. We have to find areas with really mellow hoa rules. If it makes any difference, this is how the front will kind of function, minus the second story. The steps to the right are where visitors will enter. Bump outs are in red siding. Pretty much no one but me, DH and 2 kids will use the other steps as there will be a gate across the driveway. We will leave at least one dog loose in that area, deter intruders and but mostly to keep deer out of the garden area that wraps around the back....See MoreNeed input on master bedroom and bathroom layout and floorplan. Comments (10)Can you solve the door issue for Room C by making it an outswing? When open it would then be against the wall with what I assume is some kind of air return / chase. In your bathroom you might also gain some privacy for the toilet by pushing the shower up towards the closet and then putting the toilet on the shower side. Then you can put the linen closet or cabinet across from the toilet (that could also hold toilet paper for when you realize you're out ;) Would be shallower but the back of a 40" deep linen closet would probably be fairly inaccessible anyway. Would perhaps be less private when using the vanity because of the mirror, but do you generally use the toilet when someone else is in the room anyway?...See MoreMaster Bedroom wall decor
Comments (5)We would try the artwork across from the bed over a console and then try the lamp by the chair in the corner with a piece of vertical artwork with it. If you have enough space near the window you could try getting a chaise and place a lamp and piece of artwork near it as well....See Moredecoenthusiaste
