most on Houzz that follow me know how much I love SW Shoji White...it is a soft very neutral white..looks great with Worldly gray walls....I think Snowbound for cabinets with SW City Loft walls would be a nice combo too..

@HIWE, not to hijack @sdoel's post but I have a question about your recommendation., if I may. What color would you say City Loft is? Isn't City Loft a warm color and Snowbound cool? I'm just curious/trying to learn but can you mix them that way? Or should both be cool or both warm to coordinate best? When remodeling my staircase, I chose Snowbound for the trim and risers. At the time, everything was being remodeled but the risers/trim had to sprayed off site so a decision had to be made before I knew any other colors. NOW, I was thinking of painting the kitchen cabinets Snowbound as well and the room trim to match. With all that cool Snowbound, do design "rules" say it's ok to introduce a wall color that's warm?

I have never went with any rule that warm and cool colors can not be put together...With that said City loft is a neutral kinda sits between warm and cool..so is a Great Wall color to mix with cool or warm whites...here is the SW recommended color mix...as you can see it can mix with warm Taupe or cool teal blue....I also love Snowbound it is a very safe white for cabinets and trim.

sdoel-Simply White. if you do any of those other off whites, with your lighting, gold countertops (the countertops will bounce off color onto the white) it's going to be on the creamy yellow side.

Chantilly Lace is very cool. poor choice for your room.

here's what you do. buy samples. bring them home and paint a door or two w/a few swaths. let dry. see how it looks during diff times of the day.

@Aurora Tee - Yes, my current cabinets are Maple and not sure what type of stain, but you can still see some of the grain of the wood, but YES, they do have a pink hue....not planned or wanted, but lived with them for 15 years. They are a bit worse of in the pictures, but they do have that hue. Yes, i will definitely be painting the walls as well, just wasn't sure what color. I like the monochromatic cleaner look when they are painted the same color, but due to the other factors wasn't sure if that was the best choice.

@Home Interiors with Ease, Beth H and Joe - thank you for the suggestions, input and discussion. Its so nice to have some dialog with others that have interest or opinions. I like the pics with Shoji white trim and cabinets and simply white. I like the White Dove on the chart Beth H posted. I will also look up Snowbound and City Loft. Do you think White Dove or Simply White is more of a crisper white? I got 2 Simply white swatches from BM and they looked really different. They said the swatches can vary....which can make narrowing it down difficult....:)

I am painting our kitchen cabinets. We have a northern facing kitchen with no windows. I brought home Chantilly Lace and Simply White. Both were too stark. My paint person told me to try Vanilla Milkshake. I wasn’t sure about it, but I think it’s going to be ok. It’s not the white I was going for and thought I wanted, but it sure looks good so far. My husband has only put one coat on the boxes, so I only see a glimpse of what is yet to come.

I love both Chantilly Lace and Decorator White (I used DW on my cabs and trim) but they ARE both cool whites, and I don't think you would be happy with either in your color scheme (backsplash and floors are definitely warm-toned.)

In my northern facing rooms, everything comes out looking dingy or bluish no matter how bright the white.

you have to get samples and try them out, on your cabs, in the home. looking at chips really won't do much. Simply white is a safe bet as it's pretty neutral and clean looking.

I would suggest satin if you are using BM paint.

That Oxford White is very nice - not too crisp but a true white. You might want to sample it.

Since there are Mediterranean influences elsewhere in your house, would you consider embracing that and painting your cabinets a soft green, something like BM October Mist? I would love to see you go that direction and choose new countertops in something like Calacatta Colorado marble or Cambria Delgatie.

I think your cabinet hardware looks pretty - I wouldn't change that, but instead would pick it up in new light fixtures. Check out the Hinckley Casa collection in ORB.

Hope you are hiring a professional...the cabinets will need BM Advance Primer and than 2 coats of Advance Satin finish...you must wait 24 hours after primer before painting....

Ummm....no. Zinsser B.I.N primer is the best, and ready to paint in 45 minutes.

Advance paint will need 16 hours before another coat.

And you don't need a pro. It is quite a DIY project, provided the person does their homework and follows the proper steps.

Chess.....was giving info for using BM paint...never claimed it was the best or only products to use for painting cabinets...why a professional painter...over all my many years I have witnessed many really bad cabinet DIY paint projects and have helped clients to get a professional to fix them...I have also seen a few hard working clients that have done everything right and did a great job but also had done many painting projects before ever taking on a kitchen....it is a big job.......would not recommend it being your first DIY painting project;/..Ummm no;))))..

Sorry - I thought you were saying that one would have to use the Advance BM primer with the Advance paint. My apologies.

And yes, it is absolutely a big job, and not easy. Completely agree. But is IS doable.

Sdoel, not sure of your budget, but another thought was honed Jet Mist or Virginia Mist granite - looks like soapstone, acts like granite, and mid priced. My marble and first Caesarstone suggestions were $$$$...instead, look at Classico line in Caesarstone. I love this one (Nougat); it’s affordable ($60-70/lf) and could work for you:

Not sure the cabinets should be one color. Because of the style of the home, I'm wondering if the chair frame distressed finished should be duplicated on your cabinets. See image below.

BTW give your table and chairs a quarter turn like this. The area will flow better.

fyi,,,those waxed finishes in a kitchen don't fare well. after a few months the water/grease imbed the wax and it ends up very splotchy. no wax! if you like the ASCP, then use a good quality water base clear coat.

sdoel - Ironically, our colors are more cool. A friend sold me a rug, a couch, loveseat, and chair that are rather cool. The house was painted with Behr paint color matched to SW Light French Gray. It reads anywhere from blue to gray, depending on the time of day and the lighting in the house. It was very, very lightly painted.

I did, however, want a warm white for the kitchen. I knew the stark white was not going to work, even though our counters have a lot of gray in them. We'll see. So far, it looks good. I think. We are too far into this to back out on the color now. I bought a Eurogallon of the Vanilla Milkshake in Fine Paints of Europe Eco Satin, and it's too expensive to NOT use.
