Living room layout & design help needed
Comments (6)The problem is obviously all those doorways. However, I would ignore them in terms of placing furniture and put a comfortable chair on each side perpendicular to the sofa. As long as the chair is small enough that you can easily get around it it's not going to matter if it partially obstructs the doorway. You want to have a U-shaped configuration so that as many people as possible can watch TV comfortably. You'll also need side table between the couch and the chairs in addition to a coffee table in order to make the room look furnished and so that people can place their coffee cups, dessert plates etc, somewhere. You might want to see if there's enough room on one side to place a small loveseat which can seat one adult and one child to increase seating. I would strongly consider a large area rug to lend some softness and color to this room which has so many openings with the bare windows and three large doorways. This will make the seating area look more finished and cozy rather than just some haphazardly placed furniture. More pillows would also be a good idea to soften the scheme and give it some cohesiveness, with the pillows picking up some of the colors of the rug. Colorful and interesting wall art would be a necessity to finish off this room, with more furniture (bookcases, desks, a secretary etc.) against the walls....See MoreNeed help with living room furniture/design layout!!
Comments (9)A living room. Right now we are using it as a empty play room but would like a living room. This room is open to a family room where we have a tv over fireplace and sectional. I am replacing the sconces with more modern ones. Also, the furniture that is currently in this room would go down to the basement. I envision reading in the room, entertaining/sitting, and also having the kids play?...See MorePlease help with living room design/layout!! (Update w/pics)
Comments (17)I think the sofa is too big for the room and for the furniture.....return it and keep looking.....you could take one of the end tables with you when you shop to see if the scale works with the table.....you might consider something long and sleek and not so fat....... I found these pics for inspiration for sofa and white rooms......the rug is minimasslist in pattern, so you might consider going that design way. Lots of legs in the room but gives a lighter look for more furnishing in the room. long low leggy with a low leggy chaise end. doable Again smaller tables with slim lined sofa with long low leggy.....your room is not really roomy so you are on the right track for mcm. Also tried to find white paint.....which is your room color choice?...See MoreNeed help designing living room layout
Comments (1)That sectional is too big and IMO who wants to sit all lined up on a giant sofa not coducive to conversation or TV watching look at a sofa and 2 chairs so much better for both There is lots of space for a TV so why infront of the FP or above it for that matter IMO you never buy furniture for a space you do not live in . Many things pop up in real life that a floor plan cannot deal with. Wai until you are in and have lived in the space for a bit You can watch TV from a dining chir or lawn choiuar until you get it right...See Morehavingfun
