From what I'm reading, it almost certainly is Texas root rot - of course, the only sure way to find out is to get an arborist who really knows their stuff out to confirm it, or have someone test the roots of the tree as you bring it down. There is a general .pdf with specifics about TRR (see link below,) and there are good suggestions about what is less susceptible to the condition: ' Fruit and nut trees such as wine grapes, figs, apples, loquat, peaches and apricots are extremely susceptible; landscape trees such as ash, elms, bottle tree, silk oak, pepper tree and African sumac are considered very susceptible. Many shrubs including pomegranate, xylosma, cassia, Mexican bird of paradise, oleander, and roses also are very susceptible. Citrus, eucalyptus, live oak and pine are considered more tolerant, but Texas root rot has been confirmed on all of these trees. Others, including evergreens such as Arizona and Italian cypress, mesquites, palo verde, Atriplex species, hackberry, jojoba, and cacti are very tolerant. These are generally easy potted palms, and can survive in the same pots for decades… but you need to have good soil, good drainage and good water (need to really soak the heck out potted palms every few months to leach out all the salts that build up in them)… I only recommend fertilizing potted palms 1-2x a year, and carefully. They do NOT do well when it freezes… how cold has it gotten in Corona? I don't think that's a particularly cold climate. Did you check the bottom of the pot of the dead palms to see if it was wet and gooey down there… or dry as a bone?

If it will really grow too big then I could always sell it but maybe in the meantime when that does happen I might have alrready moved to a bigger place. I recon the perfect spot would be inside a sunroom or greenhouse type of deal. The reason I bought it was because it was on sale and the only other one they had was some type of petticoat palm that I didn't like. They are pretty common as indoor plants here though. Since it was my first plant ever I wanted something big to green the place up a little bit, but in hindsight I would have been better off buying multiple smaller plants and researching them before buying because she does take up a lot of room. Not that I regret it, we're still happy together :) Thanks for the feedback.

It doesn't look okay to me. The leaflets seem to have curled which can happen with too little water. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's had too little water in the pot, it could also be damaged root system. Damage roots could also be if where you bought it they had recently repotted it. Do you know if it got very cold at some stage? It can be difficult isolating the problem as there could be a number of reasons. Using a wooden skewer to push down into the potting medium can show if there is enough moisture deeper down. If the skewer comes out clean it'll be too dry. If it's wet down there you'll see that when you pull out the skewer. Other than that, as palmsandsnow said, you just might have to wait a few weeks to see.
