Taj Mahal Quartzite
Comments (73)I had chosen TajMahal quartzite but unfortunately when they were loading on truck it wad damaged. For edging do not do straight edge especialky if it is the thinner slab as you will see the material they use to put two pieces together. ogee with under offset. there are guides on internet. In the end I chose Perla Venato which is quartzite and so very similar to Taj Mahal in colour. I am so glad of my choice. This slab was thicker so just a straight edge. simple but timeless. Make sure your fabricator is goid with quartize as it is a harder stone to work with. Go there and talk to them. Go view the slab before delivery and check it. Do a final hand sweep especially along the edges before they glue it down. My only regret is that we did not use same stone as backsplash. Will use quarzite over granite again in future....See Morehoned silver macaubas (NOT white, please) & honed taj mahal photos
Comments (1)I absolutely love Taj Mahal quartzite. I haven't seen the silver macaubus, but I have white macaubus in my kitchen and it is white/cool/gray more like marble is. Taj is more warm, creamy/tan/slightly griege. I looked at honed Taj for my Dad's recent remodel, but I found that the polished looked prettier in person because you can better see the swirls and colors. I had the opposite reaction to honed vs polished dark granites for my own kitchen. I found that I liked the leathered or honed if the countertop was dark or black. Have you been to a slab yard to see them in person? One thing I found when going to slab yards is that you are looking at the countertop while it is verticle, but when it's in your kitchen it will be horizontal. Try to get a sample and bring it home and place it horizontally to get a better look at how the honed and polished fininshes will look in real life. Comments (17)Gcubed comment is a wise one. It's best to get your all your materials and lighting in there first. Then you can test your sample backsplash tiles. We completed the entire, whole house remodel in October 2018, but the kitchen basksplash wasn't installed til Feb 2019. Meanwhile lots of people enjoyed the house. It's not a big deal to wait on the backspalsh. Just have your contractor paint the wall so it's protected from water, warn you family to be a little more careful about water, and you will give yourself time to pick the perfect backsplash....See MoreLeathered quartzite Taj Mahal
Comments (17)all this info is so helpful! I'm installing leathered Taj Mahal in my kitchen as well in May. Have had lots of concern since many folks have mentioned that it stains.. It's a big and expensive decision so want to get it right with no regrets! I love the leathered look so it seems that as long as I keep it sealed and stay ahead of any stains I should be OK? right? We entertain and we all drink red wine.. Thats been a concern of mine.. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Joan from South Carolina.....See Moreclairefisk
