In love with a power recliner but not the leather - need suggestions

Last night I sat in the Bassett Club Level Conway Two Seat Leather Sofa (part of a sectional) and fell absolutely in love with it - except for the leather - I prefer fabric sofas. I like to sit cross legged on the couch sometimes and so I need a slightly deeper sofa - I am also very short (5' 2") so it gets very uncomfortable without an ottoman pulled up. I have been looking at sofas mostly but last night we tried for the first time a recliner and I was absolutely in love with sitting on this one...however I have had leather in the past and I don't find the fabric very comfortable for the long term or when in shorts or a nightgown. In fact in my loft I still have our gorgeous bassett leather set looking almost like the day we bought it because we replaced it soon after because I didn't like sitting on it and had to have a blanket with almost all the time.

So....I know Bassett doesn't offer fabric options on this sofa recliner. Do you know of any other brands I could look into?

I really don't need a sectional. I could simply get the sofa and two chairs. I also looked online and see the Barcalounger Jefferson - which is lovely...but I'm not sure what it looks like when its reclined - that isn't in any of the pictures. I don't have a Barcalounger dealer in my area to go sit in it to try.

Does anyone know of any brands that carry fabric in a recliner sofa that has power that would be similar to the Bassett piece I am in love with - or are there any options for something I could cover the leather with so I would be comfortable in shorts/nightgown etc on that material?

Suggestions of places to look would be appreciated.

Oh Price is flexible. I think the bassett is about 2600 for just the sofa. I don't know if I would get a full sectional or not.. We have been looking at sectionals but we are having a hard time finding one we like.

We are replacing an england sectional that measures 21 deep and 20" high in the seat. We think that after using it we are incorrect in our seat depth. We are trying for at least 23 " deep if not deeper.

Oh and I'm not in love with the looks of the club conway by bassett just the comfort. My home is very traditionally decorated with antiques closer to the style of the barcalounger jefferson sofa.

The crack is bad news. That's the sound of wood splitting, typically when a joint is blown or a frame member split. I'd take the piece to a local upholstery shop and have them pull the covers to assess the frame. You really cannot do this at home, or peek under the dust covers with a flashlight. Anything can be repaired, its a function of how much money you want to throw at it to get it fixed. Of course at some point its not cost effective to make repairs. Your local upholstery shop will also assess the condition of the springs and advise you on cushion replacements as well. Try to find a GOOD shop that knows their craft, rather that the least expensive, it makes a difference. What you don't want for cushions is simply cut closed cell blown foam, ask them for a Poly-Dacron wrapped with a ticking or a Quaalux high-end upholstery cushion as replacements. In case anyone else is looking for HT seating, we ended up buying power leather recliners from Haverty's. Initially, I ordered a four seat/two wedge table configuration (two armless chairs form a loveseat in the middle)for the upper tier. Later, I added a 3 seat/2 wedge unit for the lower tier. They are extremely comfortable and everyone has loved them. Usually I do not buy furniture warranties, but I made an exception in this case because of the power feature. Even with that added expense, the total cost was less than LZB and delivery was much quicker. A visitor liked them so well that he bought the same seats for his HT.

The actual recliner mechanism is not made by the same manufacturer that builds the recliner. The better recliner mechanisms are made here in the US by either HSM or L&P. The less expensive recliner mechanisms; are made mostly in China, as the manufacturers just mentioned in the previous post. Many of these manufactures including La-z-boy, Palliser, Havertys, Ashley, RTG and other lower priced recliners will mainly source these mechanisms from China. If you want the best power recliner look for recliners that have US built mechanism.

Take a look at Palliser Furniture. They should offer a lower price point for both all leather and leather vinyl recliners. Also, they are based in Canada.
