no to all of them being the same. that's kind of boring! do you have to have blinds on the doors? all of them? for instance, the kitchen nook,,,do you need something heavy there?

for you main room, i'd love the silhouette or Pirouette type of blinds

they have many colors,,,,allows you to tilt to shut out more light

woven woods would look nice with the wood trim,,,maybe add some light sheers

If you choose either mini-blinds or shades and want to install them inside the window frame rather than over it, you wouldn't be able to do that for the doors.

Are your doors French doors or sliding glass doors; I ask because: A lot of people, especially here at Houzz, have a strong dislike for vertical blinds for (that come in wood, faux wood, vinyl and even in fabric) for sliding glass doors but I do not. I've had them on three sliding glass doors and a side/slide kitchen window and like them for those purposes.

If you have French doors, you can add pull blinds or you can add mini-blinds attached at both the top and bottom but putting the window treatment within the frame is not practical.

If you have sliding glass doors, adding a pull down shade or mini blinds ... nope ... but a roll up shade above the frame could "work" yet be really inconvenient, too.

Focus on your color coordination. Choosing all wood or all white (or all some other color) for a cover -- whatever kind of cover that works for the individual space -- window or door -- would make much more sense than blocking out all that natural light w/drapes so the window treatments "match".

As long as all the windows/doors are in and/or visible within the same room/space, keep the colors the same.

I reject the idea of blinds AND drapes. Over kill. Blinds applied to the outside of doors are bulky and clang about. Better to get doors with the blinds in the glass. Doors with glass that doesn't need dressing is the best. As far as ALL the windows being same or different--that is really a choice you would make compared to your style. Each room different can be fun and interesting,more eclectic. All the same is cohesive and sleek. Either is "allowed".

Both blinds and drapes can be practical, especially if the intent is to leave the drape panels apart and have them cover only the side window trim, using the blinds (lowered and/or closed) when there is a need for light control and/or privacy.

Some have expressed the opinion that a valance -- even a plain one -- is "out of style" but a lot of those same people actually seem to like the sloppy drapes dragging on the floor look (which is a fad I hope is or soon will be over).

In my opinion (not shared by some pros here on Houzz), a valance is not "out of style" -- there is a place for them, especially if the drapes have a rod pocket top hem and that part of the rod holding the drape panels hides the rod. In that case having the rod between the panels also covered is a far more finished look than leaving a wide expanse of exposed curtain rod between two panels of drapes.

Having a valance between drape panels can also cover/hide raised mini-blinds -- some newer mini-blinds come without strings and do raise/lower as advertised.

Having all those metal and/or plastic rings that are attached to both the curtain/drape panels and the rod in dark or shiny metal exposed that seem designed to attract attention doesn't seem, to me, to be a "finished" look. If you leave the rod and rings exposed, consider white or another light color that more visually "disappears".

If the old style flat white rods are used with a traditional rod pocket, and either the panels meet or you use a valance, the rod pocket would enable the side of the rod to be hidden, too -- the rod wouldn't show at all.

Another look I like are those drapes with separate fabric rod pockets (tab top) -- (but only with and a rod finish chosen to visually "disappear"). (Loathe the sloppy drag the floor look though):

The newer style drapes with the holes in the top of the drapes themselves that the rod is run through (again, with the rod color chosen to visually "disappear") is, to me, a better casual look than having a dark rod/rings draw attention to itself..

Horizontal blinds over a door are a non starter for me, nothing but problems, look into a verti glide for your sliders and top down bottom up blinds for the windows.
