samantha, congrats with your new home. 1, your tv should be moved off the fireplace. it will hurt your neck most do not recommend sectionals they are difficult to work with and often often do not provide as much space as you like. lastly the style really does not match the the setting of your home. if you still feel this is best for you, we will be happy to work around it for you. Your house has a contemporary style, which, as you said, brings to mind clean, well-defined lines. Just wanted to share a few (hopefully) inspiring pictures ... not to copy exactly or use each of these ideas, but maybe to see if these are looks you like. It’s all subjective, depending on individual tastes, but for modern, my preferences are more hardscaping, ornamental grasses, perennials, geometric shaped planters, more of a sculptural look, etc. And as some of these show, it doesn’t necessarily translate into a rigid, cold, barren, look ... the right plantings soften up hard lines. If budget allows, I agree with Angel about changing your balcony railing to something more contemporary: This one shows a more traditional, flowing landscape with a modern house, if you like that look: Your local nurseries (not big box stores) should be good resources for advice on specific plants. Take them your yard pictures and tell them the look(s) you’d like to accomplish.

I would remove the photos altogether as they clash with the wallpaper. I would make the wallpaper wall the focal point of your room by moving the couch to another wall if possible. You could put your TV against the wallpaper wall or mount the TV on that wall. Another option if your budget allows would be to install wall sconces on that wall in place of photos. You could start by taking all photos down and see how the room feels. You could also try a rectangular shaped mirror on this wall.

The first thing I would do is get a counter depth fridge in that small space and since the space is tiny I think the same as the walls could be a good idea. I certainly would not have done black appliances and with the new cabinet color they will even be more of an issue so think a lot about this change.
