Furniture Design Dilemma living room

Help arrange living room furniture

I just moved and downsized living spaces. This is the front room that has all of the “leftover” furniture and art. I need help figuring out what furniture stays, what should go, where it should be placed, and overall how to make the front room feel more welcoming. (Please excuse the mess!)

open to new new rug, wall decor, accent furniture, etc.

Would love to keep with the furnitures’ autumn color palette to avoid having too much going on, and the rest of the house has a mix of rustic/country style I’d like to stick to.

To visually open up the room I would suggest lighter drapes close to the wall color without a pattern or with a self pattern. I would remove the stair ladder deal in the corner (they were a passing trend) and clear the TV chest of everything. Consider doing a grouping of pictures around the TV and above it to fill in that area and give the room some needed visual interest. Beverly's layout is very nice, although I've personally found that darker drapes tend to close in a room, but it's your preference. I would consider a rug an absolute must.

Give it a try and see if you like it. Idea # 2: -sectional against the wall with the single window (but chaise is on wrong side). Problem with sectionals!) -tv on stairs wall (or maybe it could fit where the charts are) -chairs a sort of separate venue by the fireplace.

IMO if the TV is the focal point remove the FP it is not doing anything for the space and IMO a sofa and 2 chairs would be a better choice for furniture and honestly without measurements of the spaces around this it is hard to get a feel for this space. I think there is no room for a pool table since you require 5’ all around it. I find the easiest way to figure out what fits is to draw a to scale plan on graph paper then go to the drscription of the pieces ypua re planning and cut those out in the same scale adn marked the min. walkwys and paly with the pieces to see what works. in your case the pool table needs space sp start there if the pool table is a must. BTW there is no such thing as a sectional with 4 comfortable seats the only seats that are comfy are the ones with an armrest so 2 seats no matter how big the sectional is.

Update on my living room: Thank you so much for the suggestions on the previous pictures. It helped me tremendously to get an idea of what I have done so far. I just received my sofa after 5 months of patiently waiting. This was the hardest part. I'd really appreciate your ideas for this living room/ diningroom. We need to add accent chairs, coffee table, console table/a built-in shelf for the tv. I took everyone's advice here and our tv will go to the opposite wall from the sectional sofa. I'm struggling with the color scheme for the decor, accent chairs, accessories, side table, etc for the coffee table I really liked to have a nesting round, but I'm not sure if it would be too big for the space we have. Since we have a live edge dining table, it's difficult for me how to choose other furniture pieces. ps For the dining table I bought 4 chairs and was thinking I'll include two different color chairs. I had to return one char and keep three because two chairs were not fitting on both longer sides of the table. So, I decided to get a bench for the empty side instead. I hope my explanation is clear and not vague or confusing. Thank you in advance.

We can't see all of the walls. Could you possibly draw a basic floodplain with room size? Could you also post pics of all of your furniture from the front? It's difficult to see what you are working with from current pics. Will a TV be going in this room as well?

I like the 3 stylish ladies for your bedroom. Can't see much about the rest of the art and furniture. Making a guess that the slipcovered sofa is too far gone to keep. Do I see two of the chairs and footstools? They look a bit under-scale for the brown sofa. CraigsList is often a good place to get rid of the overflow and make a bit of money to invest in new pieces. Those chairs (or one of them) might do well for seating in the master bedroom. I think the brown sofa is in the right location. Center it on that wall so guests will be welcomed into the room by it. I would get a piece of art 75% as wide as the sofa to hang 5" above it. Your end table is too tall and not the right style. I'd replace it with a pair of tables and lamps to complete that wall's vignette. Then pick up a coffee table to place 18" or less from the sofa. Then let's see how much space remains. Is TV in the cabinet? If so, that should probably go opposite the sofa. How many do you need to seat in this room? Here's a chart for getting the table and lamp heights right.

Could you please post pictures that show whole walls and that aren't blurry? We need to see all the walls of the room to tell how the furniture pieces relate to each other.
