Living Room Design Advice
Comments (30)It wasn't evident on the other photos how far the cream chair sticks out beyond the wall. Would you want to have the couch facing the fireplace and one chair under the window and the other against the half wall? We don't know what the remainder of this space looks like so it's difficult to know whether that would work. The floor lamp is very nice and if you can find a different table lamp with a cream shade that would be great. The lamp base could be taller so that the height of the shade is not much lower than that of the floor lamp. Since the fireplace should be the focus of this room I wonder if you could run up pictures behind the floor lamp and continue across the mantel to the other side. Right now the eye naturally goes to the collection of paintings on the short wall and that should not be the focus of the room. That's not to say you couldn't have a picture/pictures there also, once the fireplace wall is properly decorated. Edited: I was typing when you posted the picture, and just now saw them. The small changes you made have already made such a difference. Angling the chair, something more on the fireplace and changing the position of the lamp, which reveals the pretty table underneath it are all very effective. I would paint the base of the lamp cream or at least buy a cream shade for it, and the room would really come together beautifully. I see now that you already have two table with glass and metal, so perhaps a more delicate looking wood coffee table with legs might work nicely. It could be a lighter shade of brown or even be painted a white or cream color so that the middle of the room doesn't look as though it has a dark hole....See MoreLiving Room Design Advice
Comments (13)I can't quite see what the furry white thing is between your two green chairs, but it and the flowers take away from the impact of the chairs. I wouldn't but anything there except a lamp as was already mentioned. Your glass side table is truly scary, and I would worry about someone being hurt. It also seems just a little too rustic, especially in relation to the more traditional green chairs. The floor lamp behind the chair looks too crowded in. I wonder if that might work between the green chairs and remove what you have there now. I would definitely remove the white chest under the window on the side where the chairs are, but you could possibly leave the one on the other side. The coffee table is too large but I would paint it white to see if that decreases that effect. The fire screen looks too old-fashioned for the rest of your decor. I would remove it or replace it with something that has sleek, modern lines. Instead of the mirror I would put a gallery wall of pictures there to give some life and color to this room and to fill up the whole wall above the chairs....See MoreNeed advice, ideas and tips on how to design my living room
Comments (0)Hello everyone, I just recently moved into my apartment and currently only have some furniture from my old flat, which I dont really like. Therefore I am currently trying to think of how I want to redesign it and buy all the furniture over the next few monts. Unfortunately I have no real sense of what looks good together, what details to look out for and how to match colors. I am trying to keep it simple and modern. So far I have tried to design it with an online room planer (see link below), since I just cant imagine how a piece of furniture would look like in real life... Link to current Situation (Design Dilemma) & Future https://imgur.com/a/RA9fmIG Some things I want to mention: The couch in this simulator, I already have, I will get it from my sister since she is getting a new one. I will also keep my desk, everything else will be replaced (TV-Stand, Cupboards, etc.) Overall I like it how it looks so far although there are a few issues: Rug. I really like the rug but am not able to find it anywhere. What rug would you recommend? TV-Stand: I am not the biggest fan of this lightgrey TV-Stand. I was thinking about a lowboard that has a dark brown frame and a little white to it. Something like this: https://www.beliani.at/tv-stand-light-wood-with-white-eerie.html Also should I add something else instead of the cupboard with the books above the cupboard to decorate the wall? Big wall art: I don't have a big wallart for the wall yet, this one is just temporary and I'm sorry that it is not centered ;-) Cupboard below the Art: Does a cupboard fit there? I will have one cupboard next to the desk and I really need some storage space. Any recommendations? It just looks really clumped. What else could I do with this space? Without anything there it looks empty Any other help, ideas, tips are really appreciated. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!...See MoreNeed advice on designing the living room
Comments (5)Have you looked at any inspiration pictures on Houzz and Pinterest, as they will be great resources to help you decide on the look you want, colors you are drawn to, rugs styles, lighting, art, etc. Search large living rooms, living rooms with two couches, and narrow living rooms - all will help and you’ll also see actual floor plans as well. Keep a file and save everything you like and you’ll start to see what you are drawn to and would work in your room. Also look for an on line room planner and create your room to scale, include doorways/windows and play around with different set ups. Hard to suggest with such a blank slate. Are you open to couches being l-shaped at window end per first picture. You may want more comfortable seating and matching with leather is a nice look. Note decor choices in all of the pictures - not sure of your taste though but see how examples of rooms can help with so many components. Good luck and take your time buying the right pieces that you love. Couches facing each other. Where fireplace is would be your window and you could add a console table there. The mix of brass and natural elements with a graphic rug...See MoreStephanie Lillian
