Corner Cabinets/Dead Corners - What Did U Do?
Comments (45)Not one bit. I've got a relatively small kitchen too with only five base cabinets: a sink cabinet, a 12" cabinet, and two 30" drawer cabinets. The 30" drawers are EXTREMELY useful, versatile, hold basically all my kitchen dishes and tools that I use often, and make it very easy to see all my stuff at a glance and to store pots/pans in a way that doesnt' require me to stack/unstack them often. If I hadn't deaded (killed?) one corner, I'd have lost the second 30" drawer cabinet in favor of an 18" drawer cabinet (which wouldn't have been nearly as flexible to use as the big drawers I have now) and a corner cabinet that would have had to be custom made ($$$) because of some challenges in that dead corner and outfitted with one of those kidney bean pull-outs ($$$) in order to be functional -- yet still not as functional as drawers. My mother thought I was crazy to void a corner in small kitchen, but it really isn't about pure square footage when it comes to kitchen storage. It has to be easy to use, low-headache storage space for it to be valuable....See More"Blind" corner in upper wall cabinet - what do you keep in it??
Comments (7)In the last kitchen that I had a blind corner upper, that's where the giveaway vases went. I tend to buy them at thrift stores and garage sales, and when I have an event that dictates that I cut flowers for it, I grabbed one out of there to give to the recipient and no one ever needed to worry about returning it to me. My laundry room cabinet serves that purpose now that the blind corner is gone....See MoreQuestion about blind corner cabinets
Comments (2)If the minimum A spec is 37 3/8", then you'll need that much space if you want the drawer to clear the other cabinetry. The cabinet is only 27" wide, but it is intended to be pulled to a minimum distance from the corner. But since you're trying to stick a wall oven in there, you'll need more than that because the oven will stick out further than the cabinetry. You'll probably need to dead the corner and just use a 9" base and filler on the right side of the corner, and even then you may not be able to open the base door all the way. That size blind corner usually has such a small door opening that it's just as well as dead space....See MoreDishwasher Next to Corner Cabinet-90 or Blind?
Comments (0)Hello Helpful Folks, I am remodeling a house built in 1890 thus the layout is unique. I hired a kitchen designer but the individual came up with an idea that would not work in that house due to plumbing and foundation. The dishwasher needs to be next to a corner cabinet-my choices are blind or 90 degree. I prefer 90 degree as I think it more useful and would allow two cabinets next two it, one of which would be dedicated to trash/recycle. Any thoughts on which is better? If I do 90 degree-which way should cabinet hinge? FYI-I used Ikea kitchen planner but am getting Barker Cabinets. Thank you...See Moremissenigma
