scot, all of that info is indeed available, however you unfortunately will not find one easy source with all of the info. Okna and Himark have all of the relevant energy numbers (u-factor, air leakage, design pressure, etc) posted right on their website. If you want verifiable data rather than just trusting the pros that post here, you can get all of the thermal data from NFRC.org. For Structural data (Air leakage, dp, etc), you can request a structural data test report from each manufacturer (or from one of their dealers, as some manufacturers won't deal directly with consumers). On STC, that is something that you'll need to get in that manner as well. I'd confirm mmarsel's sentiments, that those are indeed elite choices that you are considering. So I'm leaning toward going with the Sunrise. By sash reinforcement are you talking about I guess you would call it their mid grade glass pack which is a 12 layer system vs their 8 layer which is the standard? (Ultra-U Plus vs Ultra-U Plus12 if you are familiar with their specs) U-factor is the same at .29, SHGC improves from .28 to .21, is that worth an approximate 1200 dollar difference? They say yes and I'm inclined to agree that it may be...they didn't try to sell me on the TP, they said its not really necessary in our climate unless u want more noise deadening. They seemed to be pretty straightforward, but obviously they're salesmen, lol. Thanks for the advice!! I appreciate the non biased feedback!

Thanks, HomeSealed, for the reply. I contacted the two companies that gave me full replacement pricing and they only want to do the job as full replacements. Basically, my pricing for 14 openings: 3 sliding glass doors (72x82), 7 gliders (3 - 72x 55; 4 - 72 x 55), 1 72x72 picture window, and 3 double hung (avg 30x50) is around $20- 21.5K. This includes installation, and new wood trim inside and out. I would have to stain the trim myself. Is this reasonable? Will the wood portion of the "wood-ultrex" hold up better over time than traditional wood windows (like my current ones?).

@HU-437821211 We ended up with Restoration, which is Sunrise windows. We like the look of that one better. I suppose you get this argon thing from EDI or some other local dealers. What they are stating is true. The argon would stay in between the glass comparing to other companies. However, that won't impact much. Because as long as 80% of argon can stay in between the glasses, it will perform very close to their claimed performance. I personally don't think that performance matters too much after the installation. It won't be a significant change unless your existing window is really bad. So my opinion is, in the end of the day, the new windows would perform pretty much the same after installation for same product levels across brands. I would consider which window looks better with your house. If it is 2-7/16 then Amerimax would be better as the window box would not be touched. If it is 3 1/4 then go with the better choice. Also there are companies offering slim designs window frames which would give a narrow looking of frames to be a more modern looking. You can get previous customer addresses from the contractors to see which ones looks better with those windows. I hope this helps you.
