Blending parquet floors with other flooring

I currently have six different floors in my home. Wow. Too much. I have two types of carpets (living room is off white and the hallway and four bedrooms are beige berber); parquet floors in two rooms (den and dining room); vinyl (like) kitchen/laundry floors; a multicolored slate entryway and colored tiled bathroom floors that match the 1956 vibe of a beach home. I am looking to replace the vinyl floor, the slate and the carpet in all four bedrooms and the hallway. I love the parquet but I am having a hard time figuring out what to use floor wise that will blend the parquet floor to the white carpet in the living room and the rest of the house. I have looked at a charcoal color porcelain but I am not sure if this is too dark as well as too cold during the winter months. I live in Indiana. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
