I once had a hedge of Rosarie de l'Hay, one of my earliest to bloom, and it also had a glorious clove-spiked fragrance. Most rugosas share a unique quality to their scent. Named ones= Begonia " Richardsiana" B." Snow Capped " B. "Tea Rose" B. "Hot Tamale" B. "Good and Plenty " B, "Tiny Gem " B. " Silver Queen " The Richardsiana has in pass week took a big flop , and so not sure whats up with it , taken it back into house , hope it was just heat stroking from 100 + daze we have been in for pass couple of weeks here in nastyville , so not sure about it. Two other's unknown named ones but pretty just the same and last one I think mite be B. " Sophia Cecile " not sure. I see you have " My Special Angel " have been looking at it in the catalogs . sorry I'm so long winded.... but sure there must be something in your long list that we can work with . P.s. Comments (31)I'm wondering if it's dependent on the type of rose, or even the variety? If they start blooming good the second year I'm happy with that. My own root Dublin Bay was planted directly in the ground. Zephirine Drouhin Big Momma Belinda's Dream Kathleen Harrop The above pictures were all taken at the beginning of their second season. I had a BD in a pot that didn't grow very much the first season, it did bloom some though. My two BD in the ground have fared much better. However, several of my own root HT's are doing great in pots, planted this year, also Paul Neyron, a hybrid perpetual has done great. Marijke Koopman is doing fantastic! Comments (11)Thank you everyone! Pat, yes she is a sport of ZD. It's her fourth season, and even though she's bloomed okay the previous two years, she really took off this year. Doesn't seem to have the tendency, at least for me, to get as big as ZD, but I'm happy about that, I would rather she didn't. Lynn, I got mine from Roses Unlimited. Not quite sure why KH isn't more widely grown, it's a charming rose IMHO. I recall that I got it, because it is a sport of ZD, and I liked the blooms too....See MoreSara-Ann Z6B OK

6 years agolast modified: 6 years agoThank you dizzylizzy, Diane and Lisa. Diane they are both Bourbons. MEC is a sport of MME ISAAC PEREIRE and KATHLEEN HARROP is a sport of ZEPHIRINE DROUHIN. I like them both better than the other two. Like most of my Bourbons (except for SDlM) they only have a few scattered blooms after the first flush. I used to think I didn’t want roses that didn’t repeat frequently, but I enjoy them while I’m waiting for the others to begin their show. I do think it’s going to be a good season, everything is very healthy and I have lots of buds, However, we’ve had June/July like weather and all weekend lots of wind, Ive been doing a lot of watering. Lisa, I’m not sure. Seems like I saw KH listed in RU and looked it up on HMF, loved the color, and thought it was charming, that’s why I got it.
