My kitchen is Blonde, also. It seems that accent walls and multi-colored rooms have fallen out of favor. The 'new' look is a more simple one. But I say, so what. I'm also a fan of wallpaper. I don't know how much light you get in the room, either. Sage green can, IRL, have a bit of blue to it and you'd have to be careful to avoid a Christmasy look. I'd think more along the lines of an olive but that depends on how cool the red is there, now. You could be safe and do the fireplace wall in green and the other walls in Blonde or super safe and do it all green.

We live in our homes and they should reflect the personalities of the people inside the home and work with the lifestyle of those living in the home. What colors truly make your heart sing? What colors will bring you joy every time you walk into your kitchen or family room? My method for selecting the best colors for a home start with looking at the things that must stay. Usually this is flooring, cabinets, counter tops, furniture and may include art or other belongings with great sentimental value or that you simply love. Second step - Find the colors that you love - look in your closet, at the art and things you have purchased for your home. We tend to like colors that look good on us (it isn't all bad to feel like a 10 in your bedroom), and have colors that bring back wonderful memories. You want to incorporate those colors in your home. At this point you have to figure out the colors that you love that work with the colors you have to keep. I love lime green, but I have blue green slate flooring in a brick home with lots of dark reds. I also love blue greens, purples and dark reds, so I excluded lime green from my palette. So now I can think about how I want to use those colors throughout my home. Do I want to paint bedroom walls, bathroom walls, dining room walls, laundry room walls or kitchen walls with some color? Think about each room and the feeling you want that room to convey and how you currently use the space. Do you throw cocktail parties or football parties? Do you keep everything fastidiously clean or do you have 4 dogs and 2 horses and throw your muck boots in a corner for the next day? With kids, darker walls may cause a lot less stress about keeping everything clean and give you more time to focus on playing with the kids instead of wiping down walls. Think about how the rooms relate to each other, what rooms do you see when you walk through the front door. What rooms to you see as you walk from room to room? You want the colors to flow from room to room. Now if you love purple, you may not want to paint a bunch of rooms bright purple, but there are a lot of grayish purples and subdued purples that look great on walls. Same with blues, greens, oranges and yellows, Reds are either pink or red, but deep wine reds rather than fire engine reds can be used successfully on walls. What ever colors you love, subdue them considerably for on your walls - you are painting hundreds of square feet of wall - so a little color goes a long way. For the common areas of a home I usually go with a neutral (living room , foyer, hallways), but I pick the neutral based on the colors that I have selected for my other rooms that I want to bring in as accents and furnishings in the common space. So my sofa color works with the centerpiece and chair coverings in the dining room. Generally I pick 3 colors, a neutral and then pick a white for trim/ceilings/doors if they are being painted white. I like to use my neutral or a lighter version of my neutral on the ceilings throughout the house. It adds continuity. I play with the colors and the neutral, using some lighter and some darker versions, art work and linens may have brighter versions, but my main 3 colors get repeated and flow from room to room throughout the entire house with a neutral that brings them all together. If you do this you will have a unique home that works for you and your family and brings you joy every day you live there.

I think your home is very charming! I wouldn't paint the brick but would paint the siding a color that corresponds with the stone. I understand that's easy for me to say since I haven't been looking at your home for 25 years. I would just hate for you to paint over some of the charm of your beautiful home. Okay, I gotta admit that the all-grey color scheme, even on the brick does look nice. It just really changes the style of the home. Hope this helps in your decision-making!

I’d probably paint it your trim color. You have a lot of different colored surfaces in the area already. Or you could try painting it your pale oak wall color in a cabinet grade finish, although that might be tricky with the kitchen floor color. Also, I know you didn’t ask, so take it or leave it, but I’d move out the small butcher block table. It feels like too much with your dining table there.
