Porch Columns Update to Enhance Curb Appeal

I have been updating my house for the last three years. Last year, I tore off the hunter green shutters and painted the window frames white to give the house a more modern appearance. In addition, I painted the front doors a chocolate/bronze brown to match the updated storm doors. The siding on the front will be replaced next week with the same color (the shutters damaged the siding), but the house will remain a study in beige.

I plan on updating the porch columns, and possibly staining or painting the concrete porch floor. In looking at the columns, they are already at the edge of the porch. I would love to enhance the base but any additional wood would be over the edge of the porch (you can see this in the picture). I thought of staining a thin veneer and creating texture using corner pieces or I could just paint them.

I'm not sure on color, although similar posts suggest matching the white trim. So, I could simply paint the columns white and be done OR paint them to match the door to create contrast in the sea of beige OR I could build out the posts and create a stained look. Also, I could repaint the doors although I like the color. Anyway, looking for opinions.
