Essential Consultants worse than Blago Pay to Play

heri_cles

and Blago got 15 years in prison.

Over $4 Million dollars collected in a little over a year from at least 3 companies and a Russian Oligarch for varying nebulous reasons.

Trump has to answer questions.

What did he know about this and when did he know it?

Cohen is his personal lawyer and advertises himself as a lawyer for the Trump Organization. What was Cohen selling and what did those who paid the heavy monthly fees get in return?

Did tRump or the Trump organization benefit?

Can any of this information be shielded by atty client privilege or executive privilege?

Wouldn't the Crime / Fraud exception preclude those claims of privledge?

Was trump registered as a foreign agent?

Did tRump make any disclosures of campaign related money?

Did Cohen disclose the purpose of these payments?

How were they treated for tax purposes?

Did AT&T or the Russian Oligarch know that the money they paid to Cohen was possibly being used to pay off a porn actress ?

No one still believes that Cohen needed a home equity line of credit to pay Stormy, do they ?

I can't imagine that there is any attorney/client privilege. Cohen was acting as an adviser, a lobbyist. He was selling access, not legal advice

How Michael Cohen, Denied Job in White House, Was Seen as Its Gatekeeper

After paying off a pornographic film actress and doing other tasks to help his boss win the presidency, Michael D. Cohen was surprised to find that the doors to the White House were mostly closed to him.

Mr. Cohen did not land a hoped-for job in President Trump’s administration — he imagined himself as chief of staff — and in January last year he left the Trump Organization, where he had long served as the in-house fixer without a clear portfolio. But he managed to turn what looked like an exile into a lucrative opportunity.

Armed with the self-appointed title of “personal attorney” to the president, Mr. Cohen, who had served as a personal-injury lawyer and owned a taxi business, became seen as the man who could help others gain access to the seat of power that had been denied to him. Major corporations including AT&T, Novartis and the law firm Squire Patton Boggs collectively paid him over $2 million for advice about navigating the suddenly foreign terrain of Mr. Trump’s Washington.

It is not clear what Mr. Cohen delivered for clients. One cut short his contract, while another paid him even after concluding that he could not provide the services he had promised.

My thread about this vanished last night so I'll say here that my DH had business negotiations with Columbus Nova about two years ago. Even then, their MO was to brag about all their Russian money. In emails! So, the idea that Cohen had no idea that Columbus Nova's biggest investor is a Russian billionaire is total BS. Follow the $. Donnie has nothing to hide and is completely innocent so he can release all his taxes and pour cold water all over Mueller's investigation and emerge spotless and absolutely vindicated.

Any minute now.

  • A company at the center of widening questions involving President Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen is listed as the organization behind a string of websites targeted toward white nationalists and other members of the alt-right.

Columbus Nova, a company whose U.S. chief executive, Andrew Intrater, and Russian investment partner Viktor Vekselberg have both reportedly been interviewed by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s team, is listed as the registrant behind a handful of domains for websites named after the alt-right that were created during the 2016 election.

It is unclear if any of these websites were launched or ever hosted content.

These sites include Alt-right.co, Alternate-right.com, Alternate-rt.com, Alt-rite.com, and other similar combinations, which were all registered in the two days following a speech given by then candidate Hillary Clinton in August 2016 in which she excoriated the far-right movement known for its extremist, racist, anti-Semitic and sexist viewpoints. The sites are not currently operational.

‘I’m crushing it’: How Michael Cohen, touting his access to President Trump, convinced companies to pay millions

From his perch in a law office on the 23rd floor of New York’s Rockefeller Center, Cohen pitched potential clients on his close association with Trump, noting that he still was the president’s lawyer, according to associates. He showed photos of himself with Trump and mentioned how frequently they spoke, even asking people to share news articles describing him as the president’s “fixer.”

“I’m crushing it,” he said, according to an associate who spoke to him in the summer of 2017.

Even the office in which he operated — which served as fulcrum of the newly created Michael D. Cohen & Associates — was a side benefit of his Trump affiliation. It was provided by the powerhouse legal and lobbying firm Squire Patton Boggs, which signed Cohen to a $500,000 deal in the wake of the 2016 election.

Cohen’s business activities have been under investigation by both special counsel Robert S. Mueller III and the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, which conducted raids on his office, home, hotel room and safe-deposit box on April 9.

Same folks paying Micheal Cohen big money created a bunch of alt right websites for white supremacist nazis? Of course they did.

The Russian mob has more money than it knows what to do with, and I believe it has very wisely invested in buying influence in every major cultural institution, every industry, every political power. They bought their way in. know what the skeletons in the closet are, and they kill traitors.

That is what we are up against.

Time to decide who you are.

There is just so much we don't know. Trump supporters like to say Mueller has no evidence, not only is that patently absurd to say, but it is untrue. I bet he's got way more than we have ever thought of , heard of or imagined,

Funny how silent Trump supporters are about this when they went totally ballistic with the unfounded accusation that HC was involved in "pay to play"

I'm guessing this is the real reason that Cohen was raided, not because of Stormy Daniels. To find evidence if Trump himself was in on this.

Not sure that's the reason. If it was about Trump directly Mueller would have hand on to it not passed it off. Which is not to say there isn't dirt to stick to Trump . I also don't think is was about Stormy either. Mueller was on to Cohen over 6 months ago

There is that great big glaring Russian Oligarch connection which I expect got them in the door but what they found sounds like a much bigger mess of corruption, one that deserved its own investigation. That is my read at the moment but I am open to further speculation.

When you have your head in the sand you are very quiet. Personally I like it when trumpsters go radio silent. When it gets so bad they cannot defend then you know "No words" unable to defend.

Clearly Cohen is a serious sleeze ball lawyer which is what citizen Trump wanted but maybe not such a good thing when you are the President

The reason I think as I do is that the Mueller investigation has dealt with several small fry already, some not really connected in their proven illegalities to the essential goal of the investigation. That is efficient. I think this is going to be a much more serious and complex mess with plenty that is not connected to the central goal and therefore needs its own team. I am open as I said to new interpretations.

Cohen is facing jail time. He will have to give up some information if he expects less years. That is where they learn more about Trump.

Yes, this could be a different Trump door altogether. Not having to do with Russian interference but having to do with garden variety corruption. Interesting.

There have been stories that he has written some summary reports and then these hints die down. Wonder if they are things that would be given to Congress if it gets shutdown. So firing would make it all hit that proverbial fan sooner rather than later.

So influence peddling is a private matter, now.

Tell that to Bobby Baker

Pence says Cohen selling access to the president is none of your business

During an interview with NBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Thursday, Vice President Mike Pence downplayed the pay-for-play scandal involving President Trump’s longtime personal attorney and fixer as “a private matter.”

Mitchell pointed out to Pence that “you now have the president’s lawyer getting millions of dollars from companies that he says he can get access, including one company that had a Russian connection. Is that draining the swamp?”

Pence dismissed the scandal, and tried to distance himself from it.

“Well, what I can say is that, that private matter is something I don’t have any knowledge about, and the White House issued a statement saying the same,” he said.

I'm suspecting that mueller turned this over to SDNY because he's trying to protect the investigation even if he is fired or the investigation shut down. Apparently he's been spreading the prosecutions around to other places as well. It only makes sense that he does so since clearly the gop via nunes is gearing up to fire first rosenstein and then mueller.

AT&T while in the midst of anti-trust litigation pertaining to a proposed mega-merger sought to gain access to Trump through Cohen. They need to clear this up a little more for us. Maybe they can help by producing recordings of their calls with Cohen.
